Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has announced a two-percentage-point increase in Dearness Allowance for government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners, raising both rates from 58% to 60% with effect from November 1, 2026. Announced ahead of Diwali, the decision will benefit approximately 5.35 lakh employees and pensioners across the state, according to a government release issued on Thursday, October 29.

The decision, taken by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, covers approximately 3.85 lakh serving government employees and 1.50 lakh pensioners.

The higher Dearness Allowance will provide additional financial support to eligible employees, while the corresponding increase in Dearness Relief will benefit pensioners.

According to the release, implementing the revised rates will place an additional financial burden of approximately ₹36 crore per month on the state government. The annual expenditure is estimated at ₹432 crore.

Sai said the government remained attentive to the interests of its employees and pensioners and described the increase as an important measure to provide financial relief.

“Our government is sensitive to the interests of government employees and pensioners,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the announcement ahead of Diwali would support household finances and contribute to the festive celebrations of employees, pensioners and their families.

“This decision, taken before Diwali, will provide financial relief to government employees and pensioners and add to the festive happiness and enthusiasm of their families,” Sai said.
