Raipur: Jitendra Kumar, a Master of Commerce student at Pragati College, Raipur, has been selected for the All India Inter-University Hockey Competition, earning an opportunity to showcase his abilities beyond the college sporting arena. The achievement brings recognition to the student and adds to the institution’s participation in university-level sport.

According to the announcement shared by the college, the competition is being organised at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, from Thursday, October 29, 2026.

For Jitendra, the selection represents an important step in his sporting journey. Participation in an inter-university competition offers an opportunity to test his skills against players from other institutions and gain experience in a competitive team environment.

Hockey demands close coordination, physical endurance, quick decisions and the ability to respond to changing situations on the field. Competing at this level gives student players an opportunity to develop these qualities while contributing to their team’s performance.

Jitendra’s achievement also highlights the place of sport alongside academic pursuits. As a postgraduate commerce student, his selection provides an encouraging example for students interested in pursuing sporting opportunities while continuing their education.

For Pragati College’s student community, the announcement is a moment of pride and a reminder that achievement can take many forms—within classrooms, on playing fields and through participation in wider university activities.

The competition now offers Jitendra an opportunity to build on his selection, learn from the experience and take another step forward in hockey.
