Raipur: A mass yoga practice event was organised at the ‘Jajwalya Dev Dwar’ complex near Bhima Pond at the Janjgir-Champa district headquarters on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
The state’s Finance Minister and the district’s Minister-in-charge, O.P. Choudhary, attended the event as the chief guest. A large number of public representatives, officials, employees, students, members of social organisations, and citizens enthusiastically participated in the yoga session.
On the occasion, the Finance Minister extended his best wishes to the residents of the district for International Yoga Day.
He stated that yoga has gained global recognition due to the persistent efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and today, the entire world is embracing this invaluable heritage of Indian culture. He remarked that yoga is a living example of the concept “Development as well as Heritage” (Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi), which has brought honor to India’s ancient tradition of knowledge on the global stage, OP Choudhary added.
He noted that lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease are rising rapidly in current times. An unbalanced daily routine and an irregular lifestyle gradually lead to serious health issues. Therefore, instead of waiting for diseases to strike, it is essential to remain health-conscious from the outset. Many ailments can be prevented by adopting yoga, naturopathy, and a balanced lifestyle, Chaudhary described .
Minister Choudhary stated that yoga is not merely a means to keep the body healthy but also the foundation for mental peace, self-discipline, and positive thinking. Yoga inspires individuals to lead a stress-free life and build a balanced personality. He urged all citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine and conveyed the message of building a healthy, disease-free, and prosperous society, he emphasised .
Encouragement for Mallakhamb Player
During the Yoga Day event, Dimpi Singh, a young Mallakhamb player from Kutrabod village in Pamgarh development block, drew everyone’s attention with her outstanding performance. Impressed by her talent, Minister-in-charge Choudhary announced financial assistance of ₹25,000 from the discretionary grant fund and assured her of all possible support for a bright future.
Tree plantation under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign
Following the event, the Minister-in-charge planted a sapling at the Bhima Pond complex as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, conveying a message of environmental conservation and a green future.
District receives three new ambulances
On the occasion of World Yoga Day, the district also received a significant boost to its health services. Minister-in-charge O.P. Chaudhary flagged off three new ambulances allocated for the Nawagarh, Pamgarh, and Akaltara development blocks.
The operation of these ambulances will further strengthen and enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of emergency health services in rural and remote areas.
Present on the occasion were former Leader of the Opposition Narayan Chandel, former Parliamentary Secretary Besh Jangde, former MP Kamala Devi Patle, former MLA Chunnilal Sahu, Zila Panchayat President Satyalata Anand Miri, Janjgir-Naila Municipal Council President Rekha Deva Gadhewal, Collector Janmejay Mahobe, Superintendent of Police Vijay Pandey, and Zila Panchayat CEO Gokul Rawte, along with various public representatives, officials, members of social organizations, and a large number of citizens.
