When individual efforts are linked with collective and national goals, she observed, they create greater opportunities for the country’s progress.

Setting goals and facing challenges courageously are essential, she said, adding that success and failure are both part of life. Instead of becoming discouraged by setbacks, young people should learn from them, improve themselves and move forward.

“Young people should combine knowledge with humility, ambition with ethical values and success with a spirit of service,” she said.

Achievements acquire their true meaning when knowledge helps someone in need, talent solves a problem and success becomes a means of bringing positive change to society, the President observed.

She emphasised that nation-building depends on the small, honest efforts of millions of citizens as well as major decisions. Honesty, commitment and sensitivity in everyday work would strengthen young people’s contribution to a developed India.

Expressing happiness at the large number of women present, President Murmu said their equal participation is indispensable to achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

The country cannot realise its full potential without enabling half its population to advance, she said, urging women to participate actively in national and social affairs.

She called upon men, particularly young men, to provide their sisters and daughters with opportunities and an environment in which they can fulfil their dreams without barriers.

“Respect for women should be reflected not merely in words, but also in our thinking, behaviour and daily conduct,” she said.

Development Reaches Areas Once Overshadowed by Terror

Referring to positive changes in Chhattisgarh, President Murmu welcomed young people leaving the path of Naxalism and joining the mainstream through their determination and the efforts of the Central and State governments.
