Today is the first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh on Makar Sankranti. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Naga Sadhus from various Akharas took a holy dip in the Sangam.
Amrit Snan is also known as Shahi Snan. This Maha Kumbh is being organized after 12 years. Sadhus and saints claim that a very rare Muhurta has been created for this event after 144 years, which was created during Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean).
On the first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh, Naga sadhus from many Akharas took a dip in the Sangam today, including Niranjani Akhara, Atal Akhara, Mahanirvani Akhara and Anand Akhara.
Naga saints and sadhus were seen at the confluence riding elephants, horses and camels, carrying tridents, maces, spears and lances in their hands, shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Har Har Mahadev’.
Also, a crowd of lakhs of devotees was seen on both sides of the Akhara Marg to see the saints, ascetics and Naga sadhus.
On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, till now 1.38 crore devotees have taken a dip in the first Amrit Snan today.
Kumbh Mela is one of the biggest and holiest religious events of Sanatan Dharma, which takes place once every 12 years.
On the other hand, Maha Kumbh comes once in 144 years. In which the position of the planets is very important. Kumbh is organized on the basis of the position of the Sun, Moon and Jupiter planets.
Kumbh Mela is organized in four places like Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. There are four categories of this event- Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh, Purna Kumbh and Maha Kumbh.
