CM Sai Envisions Advanced and Affordable Healthcare Within Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday, October 11, 2026, said Chhattisgarh was rapidly emerging as one of Central India’s major medical hubs, with expanding healthcare infrastructure, advanced medical technology and super-speciality services creating new opportunities for patients and healthcare professionals. Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for a proposed cancer treatment centre at Omega Medicine Hospital in Raipur, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring that quality medical treatment remains accessible and affordable, particularly for families facing financial hardship. He also highlighted the development of a modern Medicity and Pharma Park across approximately 200 acres in Nava Raipur as a major step towards strengthening the state’s healthcare and pharmaceutical ecosystem.

The Chief Minister congratulated the management of Omega Medicine Hospital and the Omega Group on their initiative to expand advanced healthcare services in the state capital.

He said the proposed oncology centre would strengthen cancer treatment facilities and help reduce the need for patients to travel to hospitals in other states.

Financial Hardship Must Never Become a Barrier to Treatment’

Speaking about the difficulties faced by families dealing with serious illnesses, Sai emphasised that healthcare should not become a financial burden beyond their means.

“Our goal is to ensure that every citizen of Chhattisgarh receives better, accessible and affordable healthcare facilities within the state itself, and that financial hardship does not become an obstacle to treatment for anyone in need,” the Chief Minister said.

He observed that cancer affects not only the patient but also the entire family, which often experiences emotional distress, financial uncertainty and practical difficulties during prolonged treatment.

When patients are required to travel outside their home state, accommodation, transportation and other expenses can add considerably to the cost of medical care.

“Our endeavour is to minimise the need for people from Chhattisgarh to travel outside the state for the treatment of even the most serious illnesses, so that they can receive world-class medical facilities while remaining close to their families,” Sai said.

The Chief Minister described the proposed cancer treatment centre as an important initiative towards achieving that objective.

Proposed Oncology Centre to Strengthen Cancer Care

Sai said the availability of specialist doctors, modern medical technology and advanced cancer treatment facilities could significantly improve healthcare access for patients in Chhattisgarh.

The proposed oncology centre at Omega Medicine Hospital is expected to contribute to the expansion of specialised cancer care in Raipur.

He stressed that expanding medical infrastructure must be accompanied by measures to make treatment affordable for economically vulnerable families.

Chhattisgarh’s Healthcare Sector Attracting New Investment

Sai said the establishment of modern hospitals and specialist treatment centres reflected growing confidence in Chhattisgarh’s healthcare sector.

He described the expansion of Prathmesh Hospital and the proposed Omega oncology facility as examples of how private investment could complement government efforts.

The Chief Minister emphasised that public and private healthcare institutions had important roles in expanding treatment options.

Modern hospitals, he said, could also create opportunities for doctors, nurses, technicians, paramedical professionals and other healthcare workers.

The government intends to encourage investment in medical infrastructure while continuing to strengthen public hospitals and healthcare schemes.

200-Acre Medicity in Nava Raipur to Transform Healthcare Landscape

The Chief Minister highlighted the development of a modern Medicity across approximately 200 acres in Nava Raipur as an important component of the state’s long-term healthcare strategy.

The project is intended to establish a broader medical ecosystem encompassing super-speciality healthcare, advanced treatment facilities and related investment.

Sai said the initiative could help Chhattisgarh develop into a recognised destination for specialised medical services.

He also highlighted the potential for pharmaceutical industries, medical research and healthcare technology to grow alongside major medical institutions.

The government expects the Medicity to encourage medical tourism, attract investment and create employment opportunities for skilled professionals.

The project remains under development, and the supplied releases do not provide a final completion schedule.

Medical Tourism Could Create New Economic Opportunities

The Chief Minister said Raipur and Nava Raipur were witnessing continued expansion in modern medical institutions.

With improved super-speciality services, Chhattisgarh could attract patients from neighbouring states seeking advanced treatment.

Such growth could create opportunities beyond hospitals, including in diagnostics, medical equipment, accommodation, transport and allied services.

Sai expressed his aspiration that people from other states would increasingly come to Chhattisgarh for quality treatment rather than residents having to travel elsewhere.

He linked this ambition to the wider development of the state’s healthcare infrastructure and the proposed Medicity.

Ayushman Bharat and State Assistance Schemes Provide Financial Protection

The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership with expanding healthcare access and financial protection through Ayushman Bharat.

He said the scheme had helped eligible families obtain treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals under its prescribed provisions.

In Chhattisgarh, the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana was also providing assistance to eligible patients suffering from serious illnesses.

Sai reiterated that medical treatment should not become inaccessible because a family lacked financial resources.

The government’s objective, he said, was to ensure that welfare schemes and healthcare infrastructure worked together to provide meaningful support to those in need.

Government Strengthening District Hospitals and Rural Health Facilities

Sai said the expansion of healthcare services was not limited to private hospitals in Raipur.

The state government was also strengthening district hospitals, medical colleges, primary health centres and community health centres.

Efforts were underway to expand intensive care facilities, dialysis services, pathology laboratories and other essential treatment capabilities.

The Chief Minister emphasised that improving district-level services could reduce unnecessary referrals to major hospitals.

He said the government was working towards a more decentralised healthcare system in which patients could access appropriate treatment closer to their homes.

Abujhmad and Remote Tribal Areas Remain a Priority

The Chief Minister drew attention to the healthcare challenges faced by people living in remote forested and tribal regions.

He said the government was working to extend medical services into Abujhmad and other difficult-to-reach areas.

Health camps, medical examinations, essential medicines and maternal and child healthcare programmes formed part of these efforts.

Sai stressed that the right to quality healthcare should not depend on whether a person lived in Raipur or in a remote village of Bastar.

“Every citizen has an equal right to better healthcare, whether they live in the state capital or in a remote forest region of Chhattisgarh,” he said.

He described the expansion of healthcare into underserved areas as essential to building a genuinely developed state.

Healthcare Investment to Generate Employment for Young Professionals

The Chief Minister said investment in hospitals involved much more than constructing buildings or installing medical equipment.

New medical institutions required trained doctors, nurses, technicians, paramedical personnel, administrators and support staff.

The expansion of specialist healthcare could therefore create employment opportunities for young people in Chhattisgarh.

Sai said the government was working to strengthen medical infrastructure alongside the development of trained human resources.

The objective was to create opportunities for young professionals to build careers within the state while contributing to improved patient care.

Union Minister Tokhan Sahu Highlights Importance of Good Health

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said good health was essential for a happy and prosperous life.

He highlighted the efforts of the Union and state governments to expand healthcare facilities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Sahu welcomed the inauguration of Prathmesh Hospital, saying modern medical institutions would help provide better treatment facilities to the people of Chhattisgarh.

He congratulated the hospital management and its entire team.

Deputy CM Arun Sao Calls Healthcare Expansion a Step Towards Self-Reliance

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said Chhattisgarh was making steady progress in healthcare under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership.

He observed that the government was strengthening public medical institutions while advanced healthcare facilities were also expanding in the private sector.

Sao said the inauguration of Prathmesh Hospital would enable people to benefit from additional super-speciality medical services.

He congratulated the hospital management and encouraged the institution to provide quality treatment with compassion and a strong commitment to patient welfare.

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal Welcomes Specialised Treatment Facilities

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal highlighted the government’s efforts to expand healthcare services from villages to cities.

He said strengthening medical infrastructure and improving access to modern treatment remained important priorities.

At the programme concerning the proposed Omega cancer centre, Jaiswal congratulated the hospital management and its team on the initiative.

He said the expansion of modern medical services would further strengthen Chhattisgarh’s healthcare system.

Public Representatives, Doctors and Hospital Officials Attend Programmes

The Prathmesh Hospital inauguration was attended by Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, MLA Motilal Sahu and other dignitaries.

Dr Rajeev Sahu and Dr Sarika Sahu of the Prathmesh Hospital Group were among those associated with the programme.

The Omega oncology centre’s groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by public representatives, medical professionals and hospital officials, including representatives of the Omega Group.

The events reflected the increasing participation of healthcare institutions in the state’s medical infrastructure development.

Two Healthcare Initiatives, One Larger Development Vision

The inauguration of the 125-bed Prathmesh Super Speciality Hospital and the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Omega cancer treatment centre represent two distinct healthcare developments in Raipur.

One adds an operational hospital to the city’s medical infrastructure, while the other marks a proposed expansion of specialised oncology services.

Together, the initiatives support the government’s broader objective of improving access to advanced treatment within Chhattisgarh.

The proposed 200-acre Medicity in Nava Raipur is intended to build on this expansion by creating a larger healthcare and medical investment ecosystem.
