US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose 10 percent tariff on BRICS countries. He said that a decision will be taken in this regard very soon.

US President Donald Trump has warned of imposing an additional 10 percent tariff on the BRICS countries. He said that a decision in this regard will be taken very soon. BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. Talking to the media at the White House, Trump said, ‘The countries included in the BRICS will soon have to pay a 10 percent duty. BRICS was established to harm America.’

A day earlier, the White House announced that President Trump views the BRICS alliance as a growing threat to US interests and has pledged to take all necessary steps to ensure that the US is treated fairly on the world stage. Brazil, Russia, India and China are the initial members of the BRICS alliance. South Africa was invited to join in 2010. Since then, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia have also been welcomed, bringing the total number of members in the BRICS alliance to 11.

During a routine press interaction at the White House, a journalist asked Donald Trump about his plans for tariffs against India. In response, Trump said, “If they are in BRICS, they will definitely have to pay 10 percent additional tariffs. Because BRICS was founded to harm us, to weaken our dollar. The dollar is king. We will keep it that way. If people want to challenge it, they can but they will have to pay a big price. I don’t think any of them is going to take this risk.”

US President Donald Trump said on the deadline for the imposition of tariffs, ‘August 1 has always been the deadline. Other countries have imposed tariffs that are ridiculous. I talked to those countries and now everyone is ready to give us everything. They looted us for years and we did not have a president who understood this. Tariffs have started coming at record levels. We were only following the rules of other countries who charge us very high tariffs. We were being led by stupid people or people with no business sense. From August 1, a huge amount of money will start coming to America.’
