Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai lit an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ at his official residence in Raipur on Thursday, September 17, 2026 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, offering prayers for his good health, long life and continued well-being. The observance at the Chief Minister’s residence was also reported on Thursday.

Lighting the earthen lamp amid a floral arrangement, Sai conveyed his birthday wishes while reflecting on Modi’s years in public life and his government’s emphasis on welfare, governance and development.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated 25 years of his public life to the nation and public service. From welfare of the poor to good governance, from Antyodaya to Atmanirbhar Bharat, and from respecting our heritage to building a modern India, his journey has been a source of inspiration for the people of the country,” Sai said.

‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ as a Symbol of Good Wishes

The lamp-lighting at Sai’s residence formed part of the wider ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative being observed in Chhattisgarh on September 17. Sai had earlier appealed to households across the State to light a diya as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

“On the Prime Minister’s birthday today, the spirit of service and public participation can be seen across Chhattisgarh and the country. ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ is an expression of that warmth. This small lamp symbolises the affection, trust and good wishes of the people of the State for the Prime Minister,” Sai said.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which began on September 17, is scheduled to continue until October 17 with activities centred on public service, cleanliness, environmental protection and welfare initiatives.

Chhattisgarh’s Role in Developed India

Sai also linked Chhattisgarh’s development aspirations with the national goal of a developed India.

“Under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, Chhattisgarh is playing its role in building a developed India with complete commitment. Our resolve is that the light of development should reach the last person in the State and that the aspirations of villages, the poor, farmers, women, youth and tribal communities become the strength behind building a developed Chhattisgarh,” the Chief Minister said.
