What is ELI scheme?

ELI scheme (Employment Linked Incentive Scheme) was announced in the Union Budget 2024-25 as part of the Prime Minister’s package of five schemes, with a total budget expenditure of Rs 2 lakh crore and to create employment opportunities for 4.1 crore youth. This scheme is divided into two parts. First – Focus on first-time employees and second – employers. First- first-time employees Keeping in mind the first-time employees registered with EPFO, in this part, 1 month’s EPF salary up to Rs 15,000 will be given in two installments. This is a separate assistance amount from the salary of the employees.

However, it is necessary to be registered with EPFO for this. The first installment will be given on completion of 6 months of service and the second installment on completion of 12 months of service.

The assistance of 15000 rupees will not be given to all the employees. Employees with salary more than 1 lakh rupees will not be eligible for this. About 1.92 crore employees joining the job for the first time will be given this benefit. This installment will be sent to the savings account of the employees.

Second- Focus on employer
In the second part, the government will give incentives to the employers i.e. companies under this scheme. So that it helps in creating more and more jobs. The government will focus more on the manufacturing sector. The employer will be given incentives on the basis of employees with salary up to Rs 1 lakh. The government will give companies an incentive of up to Rs 3000 per month for 2 years for every additional employee with continuous employment for at least 6 months.
