Modern health facilities have reached far-flung areas through ECRP and NABARD schemes

Raipur : Concrete steps have been taken in Chhattisgarh to strengthen the preparation to deal with epidemics like Kovid-19 and to provide quality medical services to the general public. Under the Emergency Kovid Response and Health System Preparedness Package (ECRP), additional isolation wards were approved in 571 health centers of the state – including 62 community health centers, 385 sub-health centers and 124 primary health centers.

Out of these, the construction of 422 buildings have been completed and 141 wards are under rapid construction. All these isolation wards will not only be ready for future health emergencies, but are also contributing to making the health system comprehensive and strong at present.

It is worth mentioning that isolation facilities have also been developed on a large scale in the state under the NABARD-funded scheme. Under this scheme, modern isolation wards of 20 beds have been set up in 25 district hospitals and 10 beds in 170 community health centers, which were constructed for isolated treatment of patients during the Covid pandemic.

Currently, in the non- pandemic situation , these buildings are being used for innovative alternative uses. Somewhere they are being used as store rooms for safe storage of medical equipment and medicines, while in some places they are being used as training centers and meeting rooms. Isolation buildings have increased the efficiency of health institutions manifold. Their multipurpose use has facilitated the functioning of health workers and has also strengthened the ability to make quick preparations in emergency situations.

Health department officials said that the building of the isolation ward in Ratanpur Community Health Center has not been handed over yet due to technical reasons. Soon after completing the necessary procedures, it will also be included in the health services.

All these isolation wards have been designed in such a way that they can be activated in short notice if required. This initiative of the state government is an important step towards making the health facilities of Chhattisgarh strong, capable and fully prepared for facing any kind of situation in the future .
