A Pakistani citizen said that we are recommending the Nobel Peace Prize to a person involved in the genocide of Palestinians, and at the same time, we claim to stand with Iran. This is the height of hypocrisy.

The Pakistan government as well as its army are facing severe criticism on social media for demanding Nobel Peace Prize for US President Donald Trump. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has formally sent a letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Norway, recommending the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Trump for his ‘decisive diplomatic intervention’ during the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

Social media users are taking a dig and saying that the Pakistani government is flattering its ‘master’ US President Donald Trump to please him. The criticism intensified after the US attacked Iran’s Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz nuclear centers, destroying the country’s nuclear program. US President Trump warned that more attacks would be carried out if Iran retaliated. One user said on X, “Pakistanis, beware! After the attack on Iran, PM Shahbaz may lobby to award President Trump not only the Nobel Peace Prize, but also the Tamgha-e-Jurat (Medal of Courage), Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Medal of Bravery), Tamgha-e-Basalat (Medal of Valour), Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) and perhaps even the Nishan-e-Haider (Pakistan’s highest military honour).”

Pakistani journalist Amir Abbas said, “The same Trump whom senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafiq once compared to Genghis Khan and Hitler – now the same PML-N government nominated those ‘Genghis Khan and Hitler’ for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Who is taking such shameful and cowardly decisions?” He asked, “To what extent can Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari go to please the US President – throwing the country, the system, the parliament, the constitution, democracy and political traditions into the abyss?”

Political analyst and columnist Raheq Abbasi sarcastically said that Donald Trump, who was being opposed by Western countries for war crimes, has been nominated by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the Nobel Peace Prize. He asked, ‘Do those people have any sense of honor or humanity who nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize, who vetoed the Gaza ceasefire proposal 8 times?’ Another internet user quipped, ‘The government could have nominated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for this award, but thankfully Trump was chosen. It is also possible that Netanyahu has been selected for the next category.’

A person named Jarjis Ahmed said, ‘We are recommending the Nobel Peace Prize to a person involved in the genocide of Palestinians, and at the same time, we also claim to stand with Iran. This is the height of hypocrisy. Major (Retd) Asim accused the Pakistani Army of taking decisions as per its will and said that the ‘uncrowned king’ of the country is ready to sell the country whenever he wants. Another social media user Aamir Khan said, ‘Shahbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Asim Munir have nominated Donald Trump, a terrorist responsible for the genocide of Muslims, for the Nobel Prize. What could be a bigger betrayal to Muslims, our country and the people of Pakistan? The nation should hold them accountable.’
