athy Vijay Oath Ceremony Live Updates: Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay has now become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state today at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai after his party, TVK, proved its majority.
Since the announcement of the election results in Tamil Nadu, suspense had prevailed regarding the name of the Chief Minister. However, following the support extended by the VCK and the IUML, Thalapathy Vijay’s party—the TVK—is now poised to form the government. Vijay is set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today at 10:00 AM.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will also attend Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony. Additionally, in accordance with protocol, an invitation to the ceremony has been extended to Tamil Nadu’s outgoing Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin.
Thalapathy Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 10 at 10:00 AM at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai. It is worth noting that Vijay was originally scheduled to take the oath at 3:45 PM; however, his astrologer advised him to take the oath at 10:00 AM instead.
On May 9, Vijay met with the Governor of Tamil Nadu at the Lok Bhavan and submitted a letter informing him of his election as the leader of the TVK. Subsequently, the Governor of Tamil Nadu appointed Vijay as the Chief Minister and invited him to form the government. The Governor has directed Vijay to seek a vote of confidence in the Legislative Assembly on or before May 13, 2026.
Speaking to the media regarding his son Vijay becoming the Chief Minister, his father—director S.A. Chandrasekhar—stated, “I am happy. I am very happy. Everything I do, I do solely for my son. Ultimately, through Vijay, the Tamil people have achieved success.”

According to the posters (placards) displayed on the stage, the names of the leaders who will be taking the oath in Vijay’s new government have been revealed. The leaders who will be sworn in as ministers alongside Vijay include Thiru N. Anand, CTR Nirmal Kumar, Arun Raj, and Adhav Arjuna. In addition to these individuals, Keerthana, Rajmohan, Venkataramanan, and Sengottaiyan will also become part of the cabinet.
