PAN 2.0 All Details: How different is PAN 2.0 from the old PAN, how to apply? Know everything here
PAN 2.0 All Details: The central government has recently approved the project to update the PAN card, which has been started under the government’s Digital India campaign. After this decision of the central government, many questions related to PAN are coming up. Like – will those who already have a PAN card have to apply again for a PAN 2.0 card, what will happen to the old card, and how much money will it cost to get it made? If you also have this question in your mind, then let’s know about it in detail.
First of all, let us tell you that under the PAN 2.0 project, citizens will soon get a new PAN card with a QR code facility. On scanning this code, the full details of the PAN card holder like photo, sign, name, father’s name / mother’s name and date of birth etc. will come. Apart from this, taxpayers registration services will be modified in PAN 2.0. Also, the current PAN / TAN 1.0 eco-system will be upgraded. Those who file Income Tax Return (ITR) will benefit greatly from this.
The Income Tax Department has issued an FAQ on 26 November 2024 to answer all the questions related to the PAN 2.0 project. Under this, answers to many questions related to PAN 2.0 have been given. In this, will the existing PAN card be deactivated or not? This is also told. According to the FAQs issued by the Tax Department, if you have a PAN card, it is not necessary that you apply for PAN 2.0. The existing PAN card will remain valid even after the launch of PAN 2.0.
Will I have to spend money to get a new PAN card?
Let us tell you that the new PAN card will be available like the Aadhar card. You can order an e-PAN card on your e-mail ID. You will not have to spend anything for this. On the other hand, if you want to order a physical copy of it like an Aadhar card, then you will have to spend Rs 50 for this.
