Major success in anti-Naxal operation, Maoist leader Kunjam Hidma arrested in Koraput

A senior Maoist leader Kunjam Hidma alias Mohan has been arrested during a joint anti-Naxal operation led by Koraput District Police and District Voluntary Force (DVF). A large quantity of arms and ammunition has also been recovered during this operation.
Maoist activities have suffered a major setback in the tri-junction area of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. Wanted Naxal leader Kunjam Hidma alias Mohan has been arrested in a joint anti-Naxal operation by Koraput District Police and District Volunteer Force (DVF).
During the operation, security forces have recovered a huge amount of weapons and Maoist material. The seized items include an AK-47 rifle, 35 rounds of bullets, 117 detonators (electric and non-electric), gunpowder, wireless radio, knives and Maoist literature.

This action is considered to be a back-breaking action for the Maoists and will help the security forces in weakening the Maoist network in this area.
Nambala Keshav Rao was eliminated a few days ago
Recently, on 21 May 2025, in a major encounter in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, the general secretary of the Naxalite organization CPI (Maoist), Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraj, was killed, who had a total reward of Rs 10 crore on his head. However, many other dreaded Naxalites like Madvi Hidma are still absconding and remain a big challenge for the security forces.
Madvi Hidma is a key commander of the Naxalites, on whom a reward of Rs 45 lakh to Rs 1 crore has been announced. Apart from that, in Jharkhand, Naxalites like Asim Mandal, Patiram Manjhi, and Misir Besra have a bounty of Rs 1 crore each, while Sujata and other commanders have bounties ranging from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
