The second day of the first Test match between India and England has ended. India’s first innings were all out for 471 runs. England scored 209 for three in the first innings till stumps with the help of Ollie Pope’s century and Ben Duckett’s half-century. England are currently trailing India by 262 runs. By the end of the day’s play, Pope was at the crease on 100 and Harry Brook without opening the account. For India, all three wickets in the first innings have been taken by fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah so far.
India had a good start and dismissed Jack Crawley cheaply who was dismissed after scoring four runs. After this, Pope and Duckett added 122 runs for the second wicket and took charge of the team. Bumrah then bowled Duckett who was dismissed after scoring 62 runs. In the end, Bumrah also took the wicket of Joe Root. Root returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs.

Ind vs Eng Test Live: India’s first innings ends
The first innings of the Indian team has ended at 471 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant scored centuries in the first innings for India, while KL Rahul scored 42 runs. Apart from these four batsmen, no one else could impress. For England, captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Josh Tongue took four wickets each, while Brydon Carse and Shoaib Bashir got one wicket each. England won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first, but Gill, Yashasvi and Pant scored centuries to take the team’s score beyond 450.
For India, Rahul and Yashasvi started well and added 91 runs for the first wicket. Debutant Sai Sudarshan, Karun Nair, who returned after eight years, and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah could not even open the account in the first innings. At the same time, Jadeja scored 11 and Prasidh Krishna scored one run. India lost their remaining wickets by the start of the second session. The disappointing thing for India is that despite three batsmen scoring centuries, the team could not touch the 500-run mark.
India started the second day at 359 for three, but after the lunch break the whole team was reduced to 471 runs. India lost their remaining seven wickets by adding 112 runs on Saturday June 21, 2025 . If India could not touch the 500-run mark, the credit goes to Stokes and Tung who bowled brilliantly on the second day. During this period, the weather also supported the fast bowlers as the conditions remained overcast most of the time.
