If Nitish Kumar changes sides now, he will be at a loss in every way | Opinion
This picture of Tejashwi Yadav and Nitish Kumar is also fueling speculations-Photo X -Tejashwi Yadav.
Nitish Kumar’s statement that ‘a mistake was made… now I will not go anywhere’, if it is Mann Ki Baat then it is fine, but if it is a political statement then one should think again and again before changing sides – because, there will not be a chance to correct the mistake in future.
The kind of statements that are going on in Bihar with Nitish Kumar as the center, it may be all just a rumour – but, if the matter is serious, then it is really a very serious matter.
RJD leader Lalu Yadav and his son Tejaswi Yadav have given contradictory statements about Nitish Kumar – and JDU has shrugged it off by saying that the confusion is there only, not here.
It is possible that all this is a part of pressure politics from both sides, but if Nitish Kumar really has any idea of changing sides in his mind, then he may have to face the consequences.
Suppose Nitish Kumar decides to go to India Block once again, then this is an attempt to understand what can happen?
- It is possible that Nitish Kumar may be made the leader of India Alliance, as they wanted earlier. Then it is possible that Lalu Yadav may also support Nitish Kumar instead of Mamata Banerjee. In such a situation, Mamata Banerjee may have two thoughts. Mamata Banerjee may not like Nitish Kumar being made the leader, but she may agree with the fact that at least Rahul Gandhi is being removed.
- The matter does not end with that. The question also arises whether Congress will agree on Nitish’s name or not? From the reaction of Congress on Mamata Banerjee, it seems so.
- Before Nitish Kumar’s return to India block, Lalu Yadav’s first condition will be to make Tejaswi Yadav the Chief Minister. Rest of the things may be tried to be managed in any way. Who can say whether Lalu Yadav will help Nitish Kumar in becoming the Prime Minister or not. But, he will not let Nitish Kumar remain the Chief Minister. Even if he shows some patience, then at the most only till the election results come. Lalu Yadav also knows that the distance between Tejashwi Yadav and the Chief Minister’s chair is going to keep on increasing.
- If Nitish Kumar leaves NDA and joins India Block, there will be a big problem in his becoming the Chief Minister .After joining India Block, Nitish Kumar will have to resign from the post of Chief Minister. If he does not resign, BJP will withdraw support, and the game will be over.If Nitish Kumar stakes claim to form the government again after resigning, it is not necessary that the Governor will even give him a chance. Because RJD is no longer the largest party in the Assembly. After the Bihar by-election, BJP has left RJD behind. BJP has now reached 80 seats in the Assembly, while RJD has only 77 seats. Before changing sides in 2022, Nitish Kumar had already included four MLAs of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM in RJD, so that it becomes the largest party. And, it will become difficult for the Governor to ignore RJD’s claim. Now if Nitish Kumar resigns and stakes claim to form the government afresh, it is not necessary that the Governor will even consider it – because the biggest party in front of him will be the BJP. In such a situation, the Governor will give Nitish Kumar a chance only if the BJP decides to sit in the opposition instead of forming the government.
- Meaning, Nitish Kumar is sure to lose his chief ministerial chair if he leaves NDA, but there is no guarantee of him becoming the Prime Minister in India Block. Nitish Kumar’s chief ministerial chair is safe in NDA. This is also because JDU is also a crutch in the NDA government at the center. BJP knows the need for Nitish, so Bihar BJP has accepted him as the leader for the next elections. Fearing an insecure future, the final decision on Nitish Kumar’s leadership has to be taken by the BJP Parliamentary Board – and after the statement of Union Minister Amit Shah in its name, BJP is trying to give the message that it still does not trust Nitish Kumar.
- Neither Nitish Kumar nor Lalu Yadav can imagine that the NDA government will fall if Nitish Kumar switches sides. This will be possible only when Chandrababu Naidu along with Nitish Kumar also decides to withdraw support. But what will they get in return is also a question. Naidu has been in politics for so long, he too must have a desire to become the Prime Minister.
- Nitish Kumar should not forget that Mamta Banerjee can support NDA if JDU withdraws. The way BJP has adopted a soft attitude towards Mamta Banerjee, Trinamool Congress leader must have also kept its plan-B ready. Anyway, Mamta Banerjee is in India Block only in name, if Banerjee does not want to join the government, she can at least support from outside. If seen, Nitish Kumar is in the best position with NDA. It would be better if he refrains from repeating the old ‘mistake’ now. Because, in future he will not get a chance to say that ‘Now I will not go anywhere. A mistake was made, I left.
