Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai here on Friday, September 25, 2026 has placed the Chhattisgarh administration on high alert amid heavy rainfall in different parts of the State, directing district collectors to closely monitor rainfall, rising water levels and potential flood situations and ensure immediate assistance wherever required.

With public safety accorded the highest priority, Sai instructed district administrations to remain prepared to respond promptly to rain-related emergencies and ensure that relief reaches affected people without delay.

“The administration is on alert. All district collectors have been directed to closely monitor the situation, respond promptly to any rainfall-related emergency and ensure that all necessary relief and assistance reach people without delay,” the Chief Minister said.

CM Appeals for Caution, Warns Against Risky Travel

Sai appealed to citizens to exercise particular caution during the spell of heavy rainfall and strictly follow advisories issued by the administration.

People should stay away from rivers, streams, waterfalls and other overflowing water bodies as water levels can rise suddenly. The Chief Minister specifically warned against attempting to cross submerged bridges, culverts or roads and asked people to respect barricades and restrictions imposed by local authorities.

Unnecessary journeys, particularly during the night, should also be avoided.

Sai asked people to remain cautious around electrical infrastructure and stay away from fallen electricity wires. Any such hazard should immediately be reported to the concerned department, local administration or police.

Parents have been advised to ensure that children and elderly family members do not venture outside alone during adverse weather. Residents of hilly and landslide-prone areas have also been asked to maintain heightened vigilance.

In case of an emergency, citizens should contact Dial 112 or immediately inform the local administration.

The Chief Minister also cautioned people against relying on unverified information circulating during severe weather. Weather warnings, relief information and administrative instructions should be obtained only from official and authorised sources, while rumours and misleading messages should not be forwarded.

Sai said alertness, restraint and cooperation among citizens would be particularly important during difficult weather conditions. He appealed to people to help those in distress wherever possible and promptly inform the administration whenever official assistance is required.
