Chief Minister says students’ safety is the priority; parents advised to keep children at home and people asked to avoid unnecessary travel

All government, private and grant-in-aid schools across Chhattisgarh will remain closed on Saturday, September 26, in view of heavy rainfall, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said in a message posted on X.

The decision has been taken with the safety of students as the foremost consideration amid continuing rainfall in different parts of the state.

“Considering the heavy rainfall occurring in Chhattisgarh, with the safety of students being of utmost priority, a holiday has been declared tomorrow (26 September) for all government, non-government and grant-receiving schools,” Sai said.

The Chief Minister also appealed to parents to keep their children at home.

“Parents are requested to keep their children at home. Everyone is urged to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel,” he said.

The announcement comes as rainfall continues to affect parts of Chhattisgarh. Weather forecasts have also indicated the possibility of rainfall at several places in the state on September 26, with heavy rain possible at isolated locations.

The latest announcement follows the Chief Minister’s earlier directions to district administrations to remain alert, closely monitor rainfall and possible flooding, and provide immediate assistance wherever required.
