Amidst countless slogans like “Water is life, save every drop of water”, a priceless heritage, a historical symbol and a huge water source of our Raipur city is unfortunately a victim of negligence . This huge water pond , which once used spread over 230 acres of land , is still neglected even after 25 years of Raipur becoming the capital of the State Chhattisgarh . Due to encroachment in the name of development and beautification, today it is dying in a very pitiable condition. This worrying situation has been expressed by the head of Green Army, Amitabh Dubey.
Raipur : A group of 25-member of Green Army met Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on Tuesday April 8 , 2025 regarding the issue . The team under the guidance of Amitabh Dubey strongly demanded to conserve the water source located inside Raipur city.
Media in-charge Shashikant Yadav said that Green Army has been continuously working to save Gajraj Dam for the last 8 years. For which the organization itself started the work of deepening every Sunday under the “Ek Vyakti Ek Dhamela” ( One Person One Tub ) scheme with the help of local citizens and from time to time, the then public representatives and officials were also informed about the issue .
The request was made, but unfortunately all in vain , everything has remained confined to papers itself.
The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister took immediate cognizance of the entire issue and ordered immediate action. He said that it is the priority of our government to preserve every ponds and lakes of Chhattisgarh state in its natural form like a heritage, so that the groundwater level can increase. He clearly said that Gajraj Dam, Boriyakhurd will be developed to its full size and an action plan will be prepared immediately for the same .
Arun Sao assured the group of people who met him to take important measures for conservation of water source also praised the Green Army for this wonderful work, and assured all the members present under the leadership of organization head Amitabh Dubey and District President Gurdeep Tuteja
