Who is Devendra Fadnavis?
54-year-old Devendra Fadnavis is the biggest leader of Maharashtra BJP. He has been the Deputy Chief Minister in the Mahayuti government led by Eknath Shinde. Devendra Fadnavis has also been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the President of the state unit. In 1999, he entered the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly as an MLA. In 1999 and 2004, Fadnavis won the election from Nagpur West seat. After delimitation, when Nagpur South-West Assembly seat was formed, Fadnavis contested from here and then became MLA. After 2009, in 2014 also Devendra Fadnavis became the BJP candidate from this seat and also won. After this victory, Devendra Fadnavis became the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. In the 2019 Maharashtra elections also, Devendra Fadnavis tried his luck from Nagpur South-West seat. In this election, he defeated Dr. Ashish Deshmukh of Congress by 49,344 votes. This time Devendra Fadnavis defeated Prafulla Vinod Gudadhe (Patil) of Congress and became MLA for the sixth consecutive time.
Political legacy from father
Devendra Fadnavis was born on 22 July 1970 in Nagpur to a middle-class Maharashtrian family. His parents were well-respected, who were actively involved in public service and social activism. Devendra’s father Gangadharrao Fadnavis was a member of the Jan Sangh and was also a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from Nagpur. During the Emergency, when opposition leaders were jailed across the country, Devendra’s father Gangadharrao was one of them. Gangadharrao was arrested during a protest rally and was imprisoned for a long time. His mother Sarita Fadnavis was a former director of Vidarbha Housing Credit Society who belonged to the prestigious Kaloti family of Amravati.
Married to a Singer
Devendra Fadnavis married Amrita Ranade in Nagpur in 2005. Amrita Fadnavis is a singer as well as a banker. They have a daughter Divija Fadnavis. Devendra Fadnavis’s assets
Devendra Fadnavis has declared a total of Rs 13.27 crore in his affidavit. In the 2019 elections, he had declared a total of Rs 8.71 crore. In 2014, the BJP leader had a total of Rs 4.34 crore worth of assets. In this way, Devendra Fadnavis’s assets have increased by Rs 8.93 crore in 10 years. Fadnavis has declared remuneration and rental income as his source of income.
Fadnavis completed his LLB 5-year course from OR Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law, RSTM Nagpur University in 1992. After this, Devendra Fadnavis obtained ‘Management Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Project Management’ from DSE Berlin in 1999.

Devendra is an avid reader. He reads about topics like finance, administration, politics, energy and economics. Earlier he used to read a chapter of economics every day. He is fond of listening to FM. So whenever he drives, he loves to listen to FM channels. He is also fond of old Hindi songs. Fadnavis loves Subway sandwiches just like modaks or puran poli.
