Jashpur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the Pandit Ramchandra Pauranik Community Hall, opened a police-run helmet bank and launched four Indian Red Cross Society mobile medical units during a visit to Jashpur on Wednesday 4 November 2026. He also announced ₹30 lakh for the construction of a separate community hall in north Jashpur.
A venue for weddings, family gatherings and cultural events
Built at a cost of ₹1,35,85,000, the Pandit Ramchandra Pauranik Community Hall gives residents a centrally located venue for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other gatherings. Sai said the hall would particularly benefit middle-income and low-income families by helping them avoid the expense of hiring private venues and arranging temporary tents.
“This hall in the heart of Jashpur will be a major convenience, especially for middle-income families and those with limited means. It will ease the financial burden of organising family and social events,” Sai said.
The Chief Minister said public halls also give residents a place to hold cultural programmes and take part in community activities. The proposed hall in north Jashpur would extend access to such a venue to another part of the town.

At Jashpur Police Lines, Sai inaugurated a helmet bank stocked with 1,000 helmets. Police will lend them temporarily to riders who need to make an urgent trip and either have no helmet available or cannot afford to buy one immediately.
Under the arrangement described by Jashpur Police, borrowers will return the loaned helmet once they have obtained one of their own. They will also help police with a short road safety awareness activity.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility. Wear a helmet on every two-wheeler journey and fasten your seat belt when travelling in a car. These habits help protect you and your family,” Sai said.
Jashpur Police are also running a separate enforcement drive against riding without a helmet. According to the police, vehicles taken into custody under the drive are released without a challan when riders produce a receipt for a newly purchased helmet.

Sai launched the four Indian Red Cross Society mobile medical units at the rest house premises in Jashpur. The vehicles will take free healthcare services to weekly markets in rural and remote areas, including communities where residents travel long distances to reach a health facility.
Sai said weekly markets were practical locations for the service because residents already visit them for shopping and other errands. Offering care there could save villagers a separate trip and reduce the time and expense of seeking treatment.
“Our priority is to make quality healthcare accessible to people in remote and tribal areas. By taking these services to weekly markets, we can bring care closer to where people live,” Sai said.
Raigarh MP Radheshyam Rathia, Jashpur MLA Raimuni Bhagat and Jashpur Municipal Council President Arvind Bhagat attended the programmes. Pathalgaon MLA Gomati Sai also attended the helmet bank and mobile medical unit launches.
