Jashpur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off the Digital Transforming Van from the rest house premises in Jashpur on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. Run by the NIIT Foundation with support from Indus Towers, the mobile training centre will take free digital skills courses to villages in Jashpur development block.

Sai inspected the van’s equipment and training arrangements before taking part in an online conference call from inside the vehicle. He said bringing digital education to remote areas could help rural residents, particularly young people and women, build skills they can use in education, employment and self-employment.

“Digital literacy has become a foundation for new opportunities in education, employment, self-employment and self-reliance. It is essential to make modern technology and digital education accessible to people in rural and remote areas,” Sai said.

A month of practical training close to home

The programme will offer a free, month-long course to residents aged 12 to 60. Participants will practise using computers and other digital devices, learn the basics of the internet and receive training in how to use digital technology safely.

By taking the classroom to villages, the initiative aims to reduce the need for residents to travel to urban centres for basic IT training. The broad age range allows school-age learners and adults to take part in the same village-based programme.

Jashpur MLA Raimuni Bhagat, Municipal Council President Arvind Bhagat and Zila Panchayat Vice-President Shaurya Pratap Singh Judev attended the launch. NIIT Foundation National Head Purnendu Hooda, Project Coordinator Jitendra Rathore and Indus Towers representative Rajneesh were also present.
