New Delhi: Delhi Police Assistant Commissioner Manasvi Vashistha has been suspended after joining a protest outside the force’s headquarters against the transfer of two officers, police sources told PTI on Tuesday, November 3. Vashistha was one of the two officers whose transfers the protesters wanted reversed.

Personnel from Shahdara district gathered outside the headquarters on Monday to demand that Vashistha and Shahdara Station House Officer Inspector Arun Kumar be restored to their previous postings. Protesters carried placards and raised slogans of solidarity. Officers also sought a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar.

Transfers Followed Confrontation with Lawyers

The two officers were transferred after a confrontation between lawyers and police personnel at Shahdara Police Station. Lawyers had protested in Delhi courts over what they described as high-handed conduct by police. That protest ended after the transfers, which then drew objections from a section of police personnel.

Police sources told PTI that the suspension was linked to the protest outside the headquarters. Further details of the disciplinary action were awaited, and Delhi Police had yet to issue an official statement when PTI reported the development.
