The centre is intended to make banking and digital financial services accessible within the village, reducing the need for residents to travel to nearby towns for routine transactions.
Through the facility, beneficiaries will be able to access payments received under government welfare schemes, including the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, old-age pensions and disability pensions.
Residents will also be able to undertake basic banking transactions, including deposits and withdrawals.
The initiative is expected to save villagers time and travelling expenses, particularly benefiting elderly residents, women and persons with disabilities.
Sharma highlighted the importance of bringing essential services closer to rural households.
“Our objective is to ensure that villagers do not have to travel to towns for every small banking requirement. Essential financial and digital services should be available within the village itself, saving people both time and money,” the Deputy Chief Minister’s message conveyed.
The centre also represents an effort to strengthen digital access in areas where distance and limited banking infrastructure can create difficulties for residents.
Rural Development and Basic Amenities Remain Government Priorities
Addressing villagers, Sharma said the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, was continuously working to expand infrastructure and essential public services across rural areas.
He emphasised that development must reach even the most remote settlements.
“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, our government is continuously working for the development of villages and the expansion of basic facilities. Roads, electricity, housing and other essential services must reach every rural household,” Sharma said.
He noted that improving connectivity, housing and public infrastructure was particularly important in remote and tribal-dominated regions.
The Deputy Chief Minister maintained that government programmes should translate into visible improvements in people’s daily lives.
He also stressed the need for effective implementation of development schemes so that residents could benefit from public expenditure.
Special Focus on Baiga-Dominated Villages
Sharma highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen infrastructure in settlements inhabited by members of the Baiga community, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group.
He referred to the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, commonly known as PM-JANMAN, which seeks to improve access to basic facilities for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
The programme includes efforts to improve road connectivity and provide essential infrastructure in remote settlements.
“Our priority is to ensure that development reaches Baiga-dominated villages and other remote habitations. Families living in difficult geographical conditions must have access to roads, housing, electricity and the facilities necessary for a dignified life,” Sharma said.
He observed that better road connectivity would help residents access schools, hospitals, markets and government services more conveniently.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government was committed to bringing historically underserved communities into the mainstream of development while respecting their identity and needs.
Action Taken Over Irregularities in PM Awas Yojana
During his interaction with villagers, Sharma referred to irregularities involving housing assistance meant for Baiga beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
He said action had been taken in connection with the reported misuse of housing assistance funds.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that public money allocated for welfare programmes must reach the intended beneficiaries.
“The benefits of government schemes must reach eligible families, and every rupee meant for their welfare must be utilised properly. Irregularities in assistance intended for vulnerable communities cannot be overlooked,” Sharma said, reiterating the position outlined in the official release.
He underlined the importance of accountability and monitoring in the implementation of welfare programmes.
The official statement did not provide details of the individuals involved, the amount affected or the specific action taken.
Vijay Sharma Sits Among Villagers, Listens to Their Problems
An important feature of the Deputy Chief Minister’s visit was his direct interaction with residents.
During the village gatherings, Sharma sat on the ground alongside villagers and listened to their concerns.
Women, elderly residents and other community members participated in the discussions, raising issues relating to local development and public facilities.
Sharma instructed the officials concerned to examine the demands and take necessary action without unnecessary delay.
The interaction provided villagers with an opportunity to communicate their requirements directly to an elected representative.
The Deputy Chief Minister maintained that government programmes must be guided by the actual needs of people living in rural communities.
Bhoramdeo Sugar Factory Achieves National Distinction
Sharma also highlighted the achievements of Bhoramdeo Sugar Factory and the contribution of sugarcane farmers to the state’s agricultural economy.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the factory achieved the highest sugar recovery rate in the country during the 2025–26 financial year.
He attributed the achievement to the dedication and hard work of sugarcane growers.
“It is a matter of pride that Bhoramdeo Sugar Factory has achieved the highest sugar recovery rate in the country during 2025–26. This distinction reflects the hard work and commitment of our farmers,” Sharma said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also stated that the state government had fixed the sugarcane support price at ₹425 per quintal, keeping farmers’ interests in mind.
He reiterated that strengthening agricultural livelihoods and ensuring better opportunities for farmers remained important priorities for the government.
Navratri Visit Combines Devotion With Public Service
The rural outreach programme took place during the Navratri festivities, with Sharma visiting villages and offering prayers to Goddess Durga.
He sought blessings for the peace, happiness and prosperity of residents across the region.
The Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with community members during the religious celebrations.
The visits reflected an approach that combined participation in local cultural traditions with direct engagement on public issues.
By announcing development works and listening to villagers during the festivities, Sharma sought to reinforce the government’s commitment to accessible administration and village-level development.
Government Committed to Improving Rural Living Standards
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the state government’s development agenda would continue to prioritise rural connectivity, education, digital services, housing and public infrastructure.
He said the objective was to ensure that residents of remote villages could access essential services without facing unnecessary difficulties.
The inauguration of the digital service centre, expansion of school facilities and announcement of new development works are expected to contribute to improved public amenities in Bhalpahari and Achanakpur.
Sharma expressed confidence that sustained investment in rural infrastructure, combined with responsive administration, would improve living standards and create better opportunities for villagers.
