Semicon 2.0, National Urea Investment Policy-2026 and Mobile Phone Manufacturing Promotion Scheme expected to boost investment, employment and technological self-reliance

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval of three major national initiatives—Semicon 2.0, the National Urea Investment Policy-2026 (NIPU-2026), and the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Promotion Scheme (MPMS)—describing them as transformative reforms that will strengthen India’s industrial future while creating fresh opportunities for Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai wrote in a post on X that

The Chief Minister said the decisions, taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflect a long-term vision aimed at making India a global manufacturing hub, enhancing agricultural security, and promoting technological self-reliance. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Cabinet for adopting policies that combine industrial growth with employment generation and innovation.

Semicon 2.0 to Strengthen High-Tech Manufacturing

According to the Chief Minister, the ₹1.27 lakh crore Semicon 2.0 programme will significantly expand India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The initiative is expected to reduce dependence on imports, strengthen India’s position in global supply chains, and encourage cutting-edge technology investments.

He noted that Chhattisgarh is steadily emerging as an attractive investment destination through its industry-friendly policies, improved infrastructure, and emphasis on skill development. The state’s growing focus on advanced manufacturing and technology-driven industries is expected to benefit from the national semiconductor push.

New Urea Policy to Enhance Agricultural Security

Welcoming the approval of the National Urea Investment Policy-2026, the Chief Minister said the policy will encourage fresh investment in gas-based urea manufacturing, improve domestic fertilizer production, and ensure timely availability of fertilizers for farmers.

He observed that a stronger domestic fertilizer ecosystem would directly benefit millions of farmers, including those in Chhattisgarh, by supporting agricultural productivity and reducing dependence on imports. The Centre and the state government, he added, continue to work in close coordination to strengthen the agriculture sector and improve farmers’ livelihoods.

Mobile Manufacturing Scheme to Generate Employment

The Chief Minister also highlighted the significance of the ₹62,500 crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Promotion Scheme, saying it would encourage domestic manufacturing, research and development, innovation, and exports.

He said the initiative would help India strengthen its presence in the global electronics market while creating employment opportunities for skilled youth. Chhattisgarh, with its expanding industrial base and improving investment climate, is well positioned to attract projects in electronics, information technology, and emerging technology sectors, opening new avenues for entrepreneurship and jobs.

A Shared Vision for Developed India and Developed Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Sai said the three policy decisions collectively represent a new phase of India’s development strategy, where industrial expansion, technological advancement, and agricultural resilience move forward together.

He expressed confidence that these reforms would not only contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat but also accelerate the journey towards Viksit Chhattisgarh, creating sustainable economic growth, attracting quality investments, and generating long-term employment opportunities across the state.
