Raipur: On the occasion of ‘Sushasan Tihar’ (Good Governance Festival) today, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai virtually inaugurated a state-of-the-art 32-slice CT scan machine at the District Hospital, Surajpur on Thursday May 21, 2026 .

This facility has been established at a cost of approximately ₹449.99 lakh through the Health and Family Welfare Department (Government of Chhattisgarh), the CGMSC, and the Chief Minister’s Government Hospital Transformation Fund (CMPHTF).

Chief Minister Sai stated that this initiative would lend new strength to healthcare services in the district and play a pivotal role in providing better and timely medical treatment to common citizens. This advanced CT scan facility is set to prove a significant milestone in the expansion and strengthening of healthcare services within the Surajpur district, he added.

The commencement of this CT scan facility will directly benefit the population of Surajpur district—totaling approximately 911,000 residents—as well as patients from neighboring districts. Now, the diagnosis of complex medical conditions—such as head injuries resulting from road accidents, intracranial hemorrhages or blood clots in the brain, cancer, tumors, strokes (paralysis), chest infections, severe abdominal ailments, and epilepsy—will be possible right within the District Hospital, Chief Minister Sai remarked.

He noted that until now, patients requiring these diagnostic tests were referred to Ambikapur, a process that subjected them to both time-related and financial hardships. With the launch of this new facility, patients will no longer need to travel outside the district, and CT scan services will be available at significantly lower rates compared to private diagnostic centers, Sai affirmed.

A dedicated 24×7 team comprising radiologists and trained technicians has also been deployed at the District Hospital to ensure that patients receive continuous and high-quality medical services.

According to the Health Department, this facility will alleviate the financial burden on patients and their families, while further strengthening access to superior healthcare services across the district.
