Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday September 1, 2025 conducted aerial survey and ground inspection of flood affected districts Dantewada and Bastar . He directly observed the condition of the affected areas and inquired about the progress of relief and rehabilitation works. Chief Minister Sai said that timely assistance to every family affected by the flood is the top priority of the state government and for this sensitivity and promptness is necessary at all levels.

Chief Minister Sai reached the temporary relief camp set up in Chuditikara ward of Dantewada, where he met the flood affected families and listened to their problems. The Chief Minister said that the government stands with every affected family. He directed the administration to ensure continuous arrangements of adequate food, clean drinking water and safe accommodation in the camps.

Chief Minister Sai inspected the health camp set up here. He obtained information from the medical team about the availability of medicines, deployment of doctors and primary health services being provided to the patients. The Chief Minister, while directly communicating with the affected families, also asked whether they were satisfied with the help of the administration. The affected expressed satisfaction over the prompt cooperation of the district administration.

Chief Minister Sai also inspected the bridge damaged by the flood and assessed the status of the traffic system and reconstruction work in the area. He directed the officials to ensure the speedy restoration of basic facilities like roads, electricity and drinking water in the affected villages. He clearly said that any kind of negligence in relief and rehabilitation work will not be tolerated.

After this, the Chief Minister held a review meeting with the district administration and departmental officials at Dantewada Collectorate. In the meeting, a detailed review was done of the progress of relief and rescue operations, rehabilitation schemes and immediate assistance being given to the affected families. The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure continuous access of administrative teams in the affected villages and that relief material should reach every needy on time.

Chief Minister Sai said that natural calamities like floods definitely bring difficulties, but these difficulties can be resolved with administrative promptness and public cooperation. He directed the officials to take special care of children, women and the elderly in relief camps and affected villages and to give priority to essential facilities related to health and education.

Chief Minister Sai was accompanied by Forest Minister and Minister in charge of the district Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, MP Mahesh Kashyap, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Revenue Secretary and Disaster Relief Commissioner Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, Divisional Commissioner Doman Singh and senior officers of the district administration.

Prompt Relief by Administration: Flood Victims Receive Rations

Utensils, Clothes, Gas Cylinders and Stoves Provided; Compensation Released for Collapsed Houses

The administration on the instruction of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai acted swiftly to deal with the recent floods in Dantewada and extend timely assistance to the affected families. During his foreign visit, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had also issued necessary instructions to Collectors of the flood-affected districts through video conferencing from South Korea.

ON Monday September 1, 2025 , when the Chief Minister reached Churitikara Para in Dantewada, flood-hit families expressed gratitude for the timely rescue and relief provided by the administration. People present said that due to the government’s sensitive initiative, all affected families are safe and secure. The relief camp is fully equipped with facilities for shelter, food, and medical care.

Flood victims Gupteshwari Kashyap, Shalini Sharma, Savita Patre and Lata Sagar told Chief Minister Sai that they were not facing any difficulty in the camp, and rations, utensils, clothes, gas cylinders and stoves had also been distributed. They added that compensation for collapsed houses had already been received and until their homes are rebuilt, they would continue to stay at the relief camp. The affected families further shared that when the floods struck, they had immediately moved to safer high ground on the administration’s appeal, and once the waters receded, they were accommodated at the hostel building in Churitikara Para.

Similarly, Rita Kashyap, Dropadi Nag, Kundan Gupta, Mahesh Nag, Babita Nag and other affected residents also appreciated the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the administration and conveyed their thanks to Chief Minister Sai.

Somdi Sodhi Turns Emotional in Front of CM

When Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited the home of Somdi Sodhi, a resident of Churitikara Para, she became emotional. She recounted that her entire house had been submerged in the floods. A day before the floods, she had been admitted to hospital for treatment, with both her daughters accompanying her—an incident which eventually saved their lives. She returned home on Friday after recovery.

Somdi said that all household items were damaged in the floodwaters. However, the administration provided rations, utensils, clothes, gas cylinders and a stove. In addition, breakfast, meals, and healthcare are being arranged at the relief camp. In this hour of crisis, she expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for the government’s assistance.

Likewise, Suresh Baghel, another flood victim from Churitikara Para, said that on the day of the floods, his entire family was at home. On receiving the administration’s alert, they moved to a safe location and reached the relief camp the following day. He returned home from the camp last Friday.

Suresh shared that the administration had provided all essential items such as rations, utensils, gas cylinders and stoves, blankets, bed sheets, and clothes, which brought major relief to his family.
Books Swept Away, Tablet Damaged in Floods—But Poonam’s Civil Services Dream Will Not Stop

On CM’s Initiative, Poonam Receives Books and a New Tablet

Thanks to the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the preparation of flood-affected Poonam Patel from Dantewada for the civil services will now continue without interruption. Living in a Naxal-affected area like Dantewada, Poonam has been preparing for the UPSC examinations for the last three years. Following the recent floods in Dantewada, her entire family has been living in a relief camp. Today, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Poonam and enquired about her well-being. On the CM’s instructions, Poonam has been provided with essential books and a new tablet for her competitive exam preparation. This ensures that her UPSC studies will face no further obstacles.

Poonam Patel, a resident of Churitikara Para Ward in Dantewada district, has been pursuing UPSC preparations for the past three years. In the recent floods, her house was damaged and all household belongings were swept away. Poonam said that all her books were washed away in the floodwaters and her tablet was also ruined. She added that her father, Santosh Patel, runs a grocery shop to support the family, and from his meagre income he had painstakingly saved every rupee to buy her a tablet for UPSC preparation. With her books and tablet destroyed in the floods, Poonam had become extremely anxious about continuing her studies.

Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the district administration has now provided Poonam with a new tablet and the essential books required for competitive examinations. This assistance has brought her much-needed relief. With this support, even the floods will not be able to derail Poonam’s journey towards becoming an administrative officer.
CM Vishnu Deo Sai Reviews Flood Relief Operations

Meeting with Senior Officials of Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur and Bastar; Directs Authorities to Remain Alert and Responsible Until Normalcy Restored

During his visit to Dantewada district on Monday September 1, 2025 , Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai held a review meeting on flood, disaster and relief operations at the Dankini conference hall of the district office. Collectors and senior officials of Dantewada, as well as those from Sukma, Bijapur and Bastar districts of the Bastar Division, participated in the meeting. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Tankram Verma, Forest Minister and district in-charge Minister Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, regional MLA Chaitram Atami, and District Panchayat CEO Prateek Jain, along with SPs and other district-level officials.
