She was sent to Sadar Hospital for initial treatment and then kept at the One Stop Center in Ghazipur.

A major revelation has been made in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi of Indore during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Police said that his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi was involved in the murder of Raja. She had called the hired killers. DGP Nongrang, while revealing the case, said that four people including his wife have been arrested in connection with the murder. East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Sim said that on Monday another person was arrested from Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. In this way, a total of five people have been arrested so far.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wrote on ‘X’, the police has got a big success within seven days in the Raja murder case. Three attackers hailing from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested. The woman has surrendered. The operation to catch another attacker is still on.

Earlier, DGP I Nongrang said on Monday morning that Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered by people hired by his wife during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. He said his wife Sonam surrendered before the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while three other attackers were arrested in overnight raids. Two were arrested from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and one from Lalitpur (Uttar Pradesh).

He said one person was arrested from Uttar Pradesh while two other accused were nabbed by the SIT from Indore. He said Sonam surrendered at the Nandganj police station in Uttar Pradesh and was later arrested. Nongrang said the arrested persons have revealed that the wife had hired them to kill Raghuvanshi. The operation is still on in Madhya Pradesh to nab some more people involved in the crime.

Who all were arrested by the police?
In the case, Meghalaya Police held a press conference in the afternoon. During this, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Sim said that the first person arrested is 19-year-old Akash Rajput from Lalitpur. The second accused Vishal Singh Chauhan (age 22 years) is from Indore. The third Raj Singh Kushwaha (age 21 years) is from Indore.

Sunday June 8 , 2025 Sonam Raghuvanshi was in Ghazipur. On Monday June 9 , 2025 afternoon we arrested another accused from Sagar district. A person has been detained at Nandgarh police station. The third team is going to arrest Sonam Raghuvanshi. These people committed the crime on May 23 ,2025 and fled immediately. At that time we did not know that it was a murder. We were looking for them. We saw the missing person report, but no one was found.

The body was found only on June 22025 , after which the SIT was formed and the investigation began. In these 7 days, the SIT gathered enough evidence. Raja had two marks of attack with a sharp weapon on his head. Sonam is one of the main accused. According to the initial investigation, the other accused carried out the murder, but Sonam’s role in plotting the murder cannot be denied. After all, Sonam was also underground for so many days. It is difficult to say right now what was the motive behind the murder, but if we connect all the incidents , it is revealed that Raj Kushwaha and Sonam must have been involved in it. Raj Kushwaha was not here, but he was in contact with the other three accused.

What is the matter?

Earlier, the case of disappearance of a couple who had come to Meghalaya for honeymoon from Indore, Madhya Pradesh was in the news for a long time. When the couple went missing on May 23, it was believed that due to dense forests and low population in Sohra area of Meghalaya, the husband and wife were not being traced. After this, the matter kept getting complicated. The body of the missing youth was found in a 150 feet deep ditch on June 2 (Monday).

The case got more complicated after Raja’s body was found

The case of the missing couple from Indore got more complicated after Raja’s body was found. In fact, amid heavy rains, Meghalaya Police found Raja’s body through drones. His body was badly decomposed and the face was not recognisable. The family identified the body through a tattoo. However, Sonam could not be found even after searching around Raja’s body. Not only this, Raja’s body was found at a place called Voisadong. SDRF, Special Operations Team and a mountaineering club were also involved in this search operation. The place where the body was found in Voisadong is 25 kilometers away from the location of the scooty rented by Raja and Sonam. This distance further increased suspicion in the case. Neither Raja’s mobile nor purse, nor the gold chain and ring worn by Raja was found near his body. Only his smartwatch was found tied on his wrist.

The tourist guide’s revelations seem to be true

Earlier, an important revelation was made in the case. Actually, a tourist guide had claimed that on the day the couple went missing, three other youths were also with them. The couple went missing on May 23. Raja’s body was found in a deep ditch on June 2.

‘There were four people, talking in Hindi’

Mawlakhiyat’s guide Albert Pad had told that he had seen the couple along with three male tourists climbing more than 3,000 stairs from Nongriat to Mawlakhiyat around 10 am on May 23. Albert had said that he recognized the Indore couple, because they had offered their services to climb to Nongriat a day earlier, but they had refused and hired another guide.

‘All four men were riding in the front while the woman was at the back’

He said that all four men were riding in the front while the woman was at the back. The four men were talking in Hindi but I could not understand what they were saying as I only know Khasi and English. He said that they spent the night at Shipra Homestay and returned the next day without a guide. Albert claimed that when he reached Mawlakhiyat, his scooter was not there. The rented scooter of the Indore couple was found in Sohrarim, several kilometres away from the parking lot of Mawlakhiyat, with the keys in it.
