Raipur: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to attend the Third Convocation of AIIMS Raipur as the Chief Guest, marking a high-profile visit centred on medical education, healthcare and the achievements of one of central India’s premier medical institutions.

On his arrival at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, the Vice President was accorded a warm welcome by Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka, along with members of the state government, senior officials and public representatives.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Forest and Climate Change, Transport, Cooperation and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kedar Kashyap, and Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal were among those who received Radhakrishnan at the airport.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Commerce and Industries Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Revenue and Higher Education Minister Tank Ram Verma, and Rajya Sabha MP Laxmi Verma also welcomed the Vice President.

Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, legislators Purandar Mishra, Anuj Sharma, Sunil Soni and Motilal Sahu, along with public representative Ashok Bajaj, were among those present.

Senior state officials, including Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel and Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, also joined the reception.

AIIMS Convocation at Centre of Visit

Radhakrishnan subsequently attended the Third Convocation of AIIMS Raipur, where he addressed graduating students and described the institution as reflecting Chhattisgarh’s transition towards peace, progress and opportunity. He emphasised that medical graduates carry a responsibility extending beyond their degrees to the health and trust of the people they serve.

The Vice President highlighted AIIMS Raipur’s contribution to tertiary healthcare, medical education and research since its establishment in 2012, particularly its role in serving rural and tribal communities in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states.
