New York: India has sharply criticised Pakistan at the United Nations, accusing it of using the international forum to spread propaganda and demanding that it vacate territories in Jammu and Kashmir under its illegal occupation. First Secretary at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, Raghoo Puri, reiterated New Delhi’s position that Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral and inalienable part of India.
India Rejects Pakistan’s Remarks
Puri delivered India’s response during the UN General Assembly Third Committee’s interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues.
He accused Pakistan of misusing the discussion to advance propaganda rather than engaging constructively with the forum’s agenda. India’s intervention firmly rejected Islamabad’s position on Jammu and Kashmir.
Demand to Vacate Occupied Territory
Reaffirming India’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, Puri called on Pakistan to vacate all territories under its illegal occupation.
The demand formed a central part of New Delhi’s rebuttal, alongside its objection to Pakistan raising the issue at the UN forum. Prioritise Citizens’ Welfare, Puri Says
Puri also urged Pakistan’s representatives to concentrate on the welfare of their own citizens instead of following the dictates of their military.
India linked its criticism of Pakistan’s conduct at the UN with concerns about its responsibilities towards people at home, particularly the protection and welfare of minority communities.
