There was a heated debate in the Senate on Trump’s tax rebate and spending cut bill till late night on Monday. After this, 50-50 votes were cast in favor and against the bill. After which Vice President JD Vance gave his vote and got it approved.
US President Donald Trump’s ambitious tax exemption and spending cut bill was passed in the Senate on Monday (American times ) with a narrow margin. The bill was voted in favour and against by 50-50 votes. After which Vice President JD Vance gave his vote and got it approved. The three Republican MPs who opposed the bill were Thom Thilis, Suzanne Collins and Kentucky’s Rand Paul.
A heated debate continued till late night on Trump’s tax exemption and spending cut bill in the Senate on Monday. During the tumultuous session, Republican MPs were seen gathering support for the bill. At the same time, the opposition Democrat members kept trying to pass the amendments presented to defeat it.
Republican senators were seen opposing the bill
Republican Senator John Thune from South Dakota was seen trying to reach a compromise between those members of his party who were worried that the proposed cut in ‘Medicaid’ would deprive millions of people of health insurance. At the same time, some members said that more tax cuts are needed to reduce the growing fiscal deficit. Now this bill will be sent back to the House of Representatives (lower house of Parliament) for approval.
Next challenge House of Representatives
Now the next challenge for the Republican members who control both houses of the US Parliament is to get this bill passed in the House of Representatives. The 940-page “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is one of Trump’s most ambitious bills. Republican lawmakers want to get it approved before President Trump’s holiday deadline i.e. Friday.
Earlier, the US President, in a social media post released late at night, appealed to the Senate to approve the bill, saying that this bill is the greatest and most important bill of its kind. Vice President JD Vance also requested the Senate members to pass this bill. Now this bill will need approval in the lower house.
If even five Republicans break in the House of Representatives, the bill will get stuck
Now this bill will go to the House of Representatives of Congress and voting will take place on it there too. The Republican Party has 220 members in this 435-member House. Three seats are vacant due to which the actual number is 432. 217 votes are required for majority and the number of Democrat members is 212. Just as 3 Republican members opposed it in the Senate, if the same situation arises in the Congress and five members of the Republican Party also oppose it, then the bill will not be passed there. Analysts believe that the difficulties of the floor managers of the Republican Party have not reduced yet.
Music is playing in my ears: Trump
Trump welcomed the passing of the bill from the Senate and said, music is playing in my ears. I was also thinking how we will be able to do this because I know that this is a very special time. This shows that I care about you. Praising Vice President Vance, he said that Vance has done a very good job.
Die in shame
Independent Senator Angus King, who is considered a gentleman of the Senate, opposed the bill. After its passing, while leaving the House, he was angry and shouted loudly at the Republican members, “die in shame.”
Musk has warned of forming a new party
Tesla CEO and Trump’s staunch supporter turned staunch opponent Elon Musk has called this bill disastrous for America. He has warned that he will try his best to defeat those senators or members of the House of Representatives who support it in the next elections. He has also announced to form a new party the very next day of the passing of this bill.
