On this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off passenger buses and congratulated the residents of the region on this special initiative.
Union Home Minister Shah said that the double-engine government is working with commitment for the development of Chhattisgarh. The end of the Red Terror will connect remote areas of the state to the mainstream of development. The passenger bus service launched today will infuse new energy into the lives of our citizens. He said that now people in 250 villages will have easy access to their nearby government offices, schools, and hospitals.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, while congratulating the residents, said that our government is working rapidly to enhance public amenities. The objective of the Chief Minister’s Rural Bus Scheme is to ensure the operation of buses in villages lacking passenger bus services. This will enable people to reach their destinations on time at a low cost. It will also increase the convenience of daily work, government functions, and other activities.
It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister’s Rural Bus Scheme was launched with the aim of strengthening transportation facilities in rural and remote areas. This ambitious scheme aims to provide bus services to villages where public transportation was previously unavailable.
This initiative will provide villagers with safe, timely, and convenient travel, which will play a crucial role in improving their quality of life.
Bastar and Surguja focus in the first phase of the scheme
Bastar and Surguja divisions have been prioritised in the first phase of the scheme. A total of 34 buses will operate on 34 routes in these areas. This initiative will connect 250 new villages in 11 districts with bus services. This initiative will be especially beneficial for rural areas where road connectivity is limited and people often travel long distances on foot to reach the district headquarters or other important locations.
Connectivity from Gram Panchayat to District Headquarters
The primary objective of the Chief Minister’s Rural Bus Scheme is to ensure seamless bus connectivity from Gram Panchayat to the district headquarters. This will facilitate villagers’ access to essential services such as health, education, employment, and markets.
The buses operated under the scheme will ensure punctual and safe travel, saving villagers both time and resources.
To ensure the long-term success of the scheme, the government has provided bus operators with viability gap funding. This financial support will empower operators financially, enabling them to continue providing services to these remote areas. This initiative will not only strengthen transportation facilities but also contribute to local employment generation.
Achievement of Connecting 250 Villages with Bus Services for the First Time
Under this scheme, approximately 250 villages are being connected to bus services for the first time. This is a historic step for rural Chhattisgarh, which will accelerate social and economic development. Villagers will no longer need to travel long distances on foot or rely on private vehicles for their needs.
A Step Towards Inclusive Development
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, at the launch of this scheme, said, “Our goal is to ensure that no village in Chhattisgarh is left out of the mainstream of development. The Chief Minister’s Rural Bus Scheme is an effort to ease the lives of villagers and connect them with cities.
This scheme will not only provide transportation facilities but also strengthen the rural economy.” This scheme will prove to be a milestone not only from the point of view of transportation but also towards social and economic equality.
