Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s Transport Department is moving towards a more digital and citizen-oriented system, with Transport Minister Kedar Kashyap saying that people will increasingly be able to complete essential vehicle-related work from their homes.
Kashyap was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed District Transport Office building at Gram Panchayat Parsabhader in Balodabazar on Monday, October 5, 2026 in the presence of Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma.
The new office has been designed to provide modern facilities under one roof and improve access to transport-related public services. Following the inauguration, the ministers, senior officials and public representatives inspected different sections of the building and asked officials to keep convenience for ordinary citizens at the centre of service delivery.
“The State Government is rapidly modernising transport services while giving priority to people’s expectations. In the coming period, transport-related services will increasingly operate through digital systems, enabling citizens to complete essential work from their homes,” Kashyap said.
With more than 2.14 lakh registered vehicles in the district, Kashyap also emphasised adherence to traffic rules. He expressed concern over schoolchildren driving vehicles and appealed to parents to make road safety a priority and discourage underage driving.

Referring to assistance available for road-accident victims, the Minister highlighted the Rahveer Yojana, under which eligible accident victims can receive free and cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh.
He also noted the functioning of transport facilitation centres at five Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in the district, through which 572 learning licences have so far been issued.
Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma congratulated residents on the opening of the new facility and said the fully equipped office building had been completed in a record period of around one year and nine months.
“A modern vehicle-testing facility will soon become operational in the district. Once it begins functioning, residents will no longer have to travel to other cities for vehicle testing,” Verma said.
The programme also brought an announcement aimed at strengthening tourism and environmental infrastructure in the region. Four new gypsies were sanctioned for Sonbarsa Jungle Safari, along with ₹1.5 crore for beautification and infrastructure development at the safari premises.
The initiative is expected to improve visitor facilities while strengthening the tourism potential of the area.
The inauguration also incorporated measures directed towards senior citizens and road safety. Ten people aged above 80 years were provided free bus passes, while five vehicle owners received licences and five drivers were given helmets.
Under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Kashyap, Verma, administrative officials and public representatives also planted saplings on the office premises as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
District Panchayat representatives, former MLAs Shivratan Sharma and Pramod Sharma, senior Transport Department and Forest Department officials, Collector Kuldeep Sharma, police officials, public representatives and local residents attended the programme.
The new transport office, proposed vehicle-testing facility and continuing digitisation of departmental services form part of the State’s effort to make transport administration more accessible while reducing the need for citizens to make repeated physical visits for routine services.
