China has announced to file a case against US tariffs in the World Trade Organization. The Chinese Commerce Ministry issued a statement saying, ‘China firmly opposes and strongly condemns the US’ additional 10 percent tariff on Chinese goods. China will file a case with the World Trade Organization and take appropriate countermeasures to protect its interests.

After US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, all three countries have reacted. On one hand, while Canada and Mexico have announced retaliatory tariffs on American goods, China has decided to file a case in the WTO. Trump has announced a 25 percent tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10 percent tariff on Chinese goods.

Canada also imposed tariffs

Meanwhile, Canada has also decided to impose a 25 percent tariff on US imports worth $155 billion in retaliation to the US tariffs. Canada’s acting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced this. In a tweet soon after Trump’s announcement, Trudeau said that he would soon talk to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and has already met his cabinet to discuss the issue.

He said, ‘We did not want this, but Canada is ready.’ In a news conference, Trudeau said, ‘The tariffs violate the free trade agreement signed a few years ago. This will have serious consequences for the American people.’

Mexico also responded

Mexico has also responded to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs by imposing tariffs. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Saturday that after the US imposed tariffs on Mexican goods, she has ordered her economy minister to implement tariff and non-tariff measures to protect Mexico’s interests.

Sheinbaum said in a post on X that her government wants cooperation and dialogue with the US, not confrontation. Leftist leader Claudia Sheinbaum has repeatedly tried to calm tensions with US President Donald Trump
