Raipur: The paddy procurement festival is starting from Thursday November 14 , 2024 in Chhattisgarh. The special thing about this festival, which will run till January 31,2024, is that more than 23 percent of the state’s total budget will reach the farmers’ accounts this year. The state government has set a target of purchasing a total of 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers this year, which is 16 lakh metric tonnes more than the year 2023.

Last year, an amount of Rs 30 thousand crores reached the accounts of about 25 lakh farmers. The number of registered farmers in the state for the Kharif season is 27,01,109. This year 1,35,891 new farmers have registered, due to which 1,36,263 hectares of new area has been registered. Paddy purchase is estimated as per registration in a total area of ​​34,51,729 hectares. Purchase will be done through biometric devices in all procurement centers. The amount of about Rs, 32 thousand crores will reach the accounts of farmers. A budget of Rs 1,47,440 crore is estimated in the financial year 2024-25 (excluding loan repayment). CM Sai has posted on his X handle that our target is to buy every grain of paddy of the farmers, under which this time our government will buy paddy of more than 27 lakh farmers and will also ensure payment within 72 hours.

Preparations for paddy purchase complete
The state government has completed all the preparations for paddy purchase. Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel said that in this, small and marginal farmers will be eligible for maximum two tokens and big farmers will be eligible for three tokens. Along with this, weighing will be done with electronic weighing scales to bring transparency in the purchase.
