Signing of India-UK Free Trade Agreement: Opens the door to new opportunities for Chhattisgarh

*Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Saturday July 26, 2025 termed the India-U.K. free trade agreement as “game-changing” and said it will benefit every section in India including farmers, youth, MSME sector and Industry.
*With this, India would be able to ship 99% of its exports to U.K. duty-free, he said.
*The India-U.K. Free Trade Agreement (FTA), also called Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, was signed by Goyal and his counterpart Jonathan Reynolds in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday July 25, 2025.
Raipur: The Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has described the Free Trade Agreement between India and the United Kingdom (UK) as a new chapter in India’s development journey and expressed gratitude to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Sai said that this agreement will not only expand the economic horizon of India, but especially states which are based on agriculture, crafts, small and cottage industries – like Chhattisgarh – will provide them a historic opportunity to be a part of global trade.
Chief Minister Sai said that India-UK FTA will give duty-free access to 99% of India’s export products in the UK. This will directly benefit farmers, MSMEs, handicraftsmen, weavers and traditional products. This agreement will open new trade opportunities worth an estimated $23 billion.
Chief Minister Sai said that this historic step has brought a new hope for agriculture and labour-intensive states like Chhattisgarh. He expressed confidence that this agreement will give strength to agriculture, support to industry and new employment opportunities to the youth of Chhattisgarh.
CM said that the state government is working on setting up special training, quality control, and export assistance centers to prepare local producers as per global standards.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi profusely for this achievement and said that this is an evidence of his visionary leadership, economic reforms and commitment to take ‘Vocal for Local’ to the global level.
