Patiala House Court has accepted the closure report of Delhi Police in the POCSO case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The police had filed the closure report in the year 2023.
The Patiala House Court on Monday may 26. 2025 accepted the closure report of the Delhi Police seeking quashing of the case filed by a wrestler who accused former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual assault when she was a minor. The police had filed the closure report in the year 2023.
Additional Sessions Judge Gomti Manocha accepted the closure report of the Delhi Police in the POCSO case against former Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The court said, ‘The closure report is accepted. During an in-chamber proceeding on August 1, 2023, the minor wrestler told the judge that she was satisfied with the investigation of the Delhi Police and did not oppose the closure report.
The Delhi Police had filed a closure report on June 15, 2023, seeking quashing of the case related to the minor. The move came after the minor’s father claimed that he had filed a false complaint of sexual assault against Brij Bhushan to avenge the alleged injustice. The police had recommended dropping the case under the POCSO Act citing “no corroborating evidence” found in the investigation.
However, charges of sexual assault and stalking against Brij Bhushan in a separate case filed by six women wrestlers still stand. Offences under the POCSO Act attract a minimum punishment of three years, depending on the sections applicable. Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has consistently denied all the charges.
