Raipur: In a special discussion held in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram on Wednesday December 17, 2025 , Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, while highlighting the historical, cultural and emotional significance of Vande Mataram, said that Vande Mataram was the spirit of patriotism whose echo made even the British rule tremble.

During the freedom struggle, this slogan ignited the fire of courage, sacrifice and dedication in the hearts of millions of Indians. He said that it was this very sound that provided the strength to break the shackles of slavery.

Remembering the immortal martyrs of the freedom struggle, he said that countless revolutionaries, including Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, and Khudiram Bose, went to the gallows smilingly for Mother India, chanting Vande Mataram. Their sacrifice still reminds every Indian of their duties towards the nation.

Chief Minister Sai said that remembering the glorious saga of Vande Mataram is a matter of pride for every Indian. This song reminds us of the struggle, the suffering, and the indomitable courage that brought India its freedom. It is the cornerstone of our national consciousness.

Chief Minister Sai said that the identity of any nation is not defined solely by its geographical boundaries, which are marked on a map. The true identity of a nation lies in its civilization, culture, traditions, and the values that have been a part of its conduct, thoughts, and way of life for centuries. This cultural continuity of India is unique in the world.

He said that the purpose of holding a special discussion on Vande Mataram in the Legislative Assembly is also to ensure that we never forget the mistakes of history that inflicted deep wounds on the country, the pain of which is still felt somewhere in our society. Only by learning from history can we build a strong and harmonious India. Chief Minister Shri Sai paid tribute on this occasion to all the brave sons of Chhattisgarh who made the spirit of Vande Mataram their life’s goal and sacrificed everything for Mother India. He said that Vande Mataram connects us to our heritage, our cultural consciousness, and our civilization of thousands of years. It is the collective expression of the ideals that we have embraced over the ages, CM Sai added.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai that in the Indian tradition, there has been a feeling of worshipping the earth as a mother, which we call our motherland. Vande Mataram is a powerful and sacred manifestation of this sentiment, which teaches us respect for nature, land, and nation, and instills in us a sense of duty.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to the Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and all the members for organising this special discussion. He said that such discussions play a significant role in connecting the new generation with patriotism, cultural pride, and historical awareness.
