Following approval by Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Sao, the department has instructed the Executive Engineer of the Dhamtari division to issue work orders to the selected contractors and construction agencies and ensure that work begins without delay.

Key Roads to Get Wider and Stronger

Among the projects approved by the PWD is the 3.75-km Megha Road Tiraha–Station Road–Charmudiya NH-30 stretch, for which a tender of ₹14.45 crore has been sanctioned.

The department has also approved ₹13.33 crore for widening and strengthening the five-km Pachpedi–Tarragondi–Bhelwakuda–Tipani–Semra (B) road.

Another ₹23.12 crore has been sanctioned for the nine-km Chhati–Gagra–Kandel–Devpur road, while the 10-km Arjuni–Bhanpuri–Tarsinwa–Kurra–Amlidih–Hasda road will be upgraded at a cost of ₹19.42 crore.

The Rajnandgaon–Gunderdehi–Dhamtari–Nagri Sihawa–Borai State Highway will also receive attention. A tender worth ₹11.71 crore has been approved for strengthening and asphalt work along a 23-km stretch.

In Aamdi Nagar Panchayat, located along the same route, the PWD has sanctioned ₹19.26 crore for construction and beautification of a 3.5-km four-lane Gaurav Path.

Quality and Deadlines Must Be Maintained: Arun Sao

Sao has directed officials to ensure that all sanctioned works are executed and supervised strictly in accordance with departmental standards, with particular emphasis on construction quality and timely completion.

“The works must be executed and supervised in accordance with departmental standards, with special attention to quality and completion within the stipulated time,” Sao directed, according to the government release.

He has also instructed that the contracted works must not be sublet and that powers of attorney should not be accepted for their execution. Officials have been asked to ensure that expenditure remains within the limits of administrative approval and sanctioned allocations.

The tender approvals are also subject to contractors providing bank guarantees for the applicable Additional Performance Security (APS) covering the entire period of the work.

With the tender process cleared, the government’s focus now shifts from approvals to execution on the ground, as the PWD seeks to take advantage of the post-monsoon construction season to improve road connectivity and infrastructure in Dhamtari district.
