The Prime Minister said that on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratnas Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh, the country is creating a new history of agricultural self-reliance. Both schemes launched today empower the country’s food providers and usher in a new era of agricultural self-reliance. These initiatives will prove to be milestones in making farming profitable and modern. He informed that projects worth over ₹11,000 crore are being launched under the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. The Prime Minister noted that India’s agricultural exports have increased over the past years, and allied agricultural activities, including honey production, animal husbandry, and fisheries, have expanded.

The Prime Minister stated that the Aspirational Districts Plan, focused on districts lagging behind in development parameters, has led to rapid improvements in the areas of roads, electricity, health, and education. Similarly, under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, special action plans will be developed for 100 districts in the country that are lagging behind in agriculture. He stated that 36 new schemes will increase farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy. The Prime Minister stated that the participation of young farmers will transform agriculture and strengthen their economic status.

The Prime Minister stated that the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission has been launched with the aim of empowering farmers and future generations. This mission is not only a step towards self-reliance in agriculture, but also an effort to ensure nutritional security in the country. Protein is essential for physical and mental development, and for this, we must collectively develop a robust pulse production system. He stated that India is currently unable to fully meet its pulse needs. The Pulse Self-Reliance Mission will increase pulse production and directly benefit approximately 20 million pulse-producing farmers.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that it is heartening that three districts of Chhattisgarh: Jashpur, Korba, and Dantewada have been included in two new farmer-friendly schemes.
