The contribution of parliamentary journalists in the golden journey of 25 years of Chhattisgarh is incomparable: Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, while addressing a one-day workshop organised on the subject of of parliamentary reporting in the auditorium of the Assembly premises on Saturday July 5, 2025 , wished the silver jubilee year of the state of Chhattisgarh and the Assembly.

CM Sai said that the State Assembly has also completed a glorious journey of 25 years and strengthened the democratic values. Chief Minister Sai informed that recently workshops were also organised for the MLAs, which benefited our members. He said that there are also many newly elected MLAs in the Assembly, who have the responsibility to raise the problems of their area in the House. Similarly, journalists also have an important role, who convey the activities of the Assembly to the public. He said that all of you journalist brothers work hard to cover the proceedings of the assembly, so that the common people can know that their issues are being taken up seriously by the MLAs, he added.

Chief Minister Sai also praised the tradition of honoring excellent journalists by the Chhattisgarh Assembly and said that this increases the morale of the journalists and encourages parliamentary reporting. He expressed confidence that this workshop will prove to be very useful for the journalists and through this the activities of the assembly will reach the public more effectively.

In his address, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh explained the importance of parliamentary journalism and said that the contribution of journalists in the golden journey of 25 years of Chhattisgarh has been incomparable. He said that parliamentary journalism is a very sensitive responsibility, which works to deliver accurate and unbiased information to the public while maintaining the confidentiality, discipline and dignity of the House. Dr. Singh said that democracy is strengthened when journalists observe and present the proceedings of the assembly impartially, beyond the ruling and opposition parties.

Dr. Raman Singh aid that only with a deep understanding of the parliamentary system, journalists can better inform the public about the activities of the assembly. He also said that in parliamentary journalism, it is necessary to present the news related to the process of the assembly in simple language, especially so that they can reach the common people effectively. On this occasion, the Speaker of the Assembly, Dr. Singh, while remembering the senior and late journalists of Chhattisgarh, said that the journalistic tradition of the state has always played an important role in maintaining the dignity of the assembly.

In the workshop, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant linked the role of journalists to the tradition of Narad Muni and said that journalists are the carriers of democracy with punctuality and alertness. Dr. Mahant said that through this workshop everyone will get an opportunity to learn something new and the scope of understanding parliamentary journalism will be wider. He expressed hope that this event will prove useful and will give a new direction to the work of journalists. Recalling his long parliamentary journey, he said that the time and experience spent with journalists during this time has been extremely valuable.

Dr. Charan Das Mahant appreciated the alertness, accuracy and sensitivity of journalists, who have been playing an important role in bringing parliamentary activities to the public for years.

On this occasion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kedar Kashyap, Assembly Secretary Dinesh Sharma, former Director General of IIMC Sanjay Dwivedi and a large number of journalists were present.
