Raipur: The Olympic gold medalist shooter Abhinav Bindra made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday July 19, 2025 at his residence office. Chief Minister Sai discussed in detail with Bindra about Olympic value education, sports injury recovery and sports science development in Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai gave a warm welcome to Abhinav Bindra by presenting him a bouquet and a memento . He had an in-depth discussion with Abhinav Bindra on the development of sports activities in Chhattisgarh and come up with schemes to encourage sports talents.

During the discussion, Chief Minister Sai said that the state government is fully committed to advancing the sports talents of Chhattisgarh. The youth of the state have a natural interest and natural talent for sports, especially the youth of tribal areas have immense potential. In this context, Mr. Bindra informed the Chief Minister that he wants to start Olympic Value Education, Sports Injury Recovery and Sports Science programs in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister praised this initiative and said that these efforts will prove to be very important in enhancing the sports talent of the state.

During the discussion, Abhinav told that through Abhinav Bindra Foundation, he is running various programs to bring forward the players in different states of the country. He mentioned that these programs run by the Foundation in the interest of sports are free, due to which the players are getting direct benefit. He also discussed about starting such programs through the Foundation in Chhattisgarh.

Abhinav Bindra also informed that under the Olympic Value Education program, Olympic values will be developed in the school children of Chhattisgarh. They will be motivated to adopt values ​​like excellence, respect and friendship, so that the promotion of sports talent will be possible from the initial stage.

Abhinav Bindra apprised Chief Minister Sai that sports injury is a big challenge for the players. Under the Sports Injury Recovery Program, players will be provided with free surgery, rehabilitation and complete post-treatment care, so that they can recover and become active in the field of sports again. For this, a network of 30 excellent doctors of the country is working with the Foundation, which will benefit the players of Chhattisgarh.

Bindra told the Chief Minister that the current sports scenario has become completely science-based. Therefore, he wants to start a sports science program in Chhattisgarh, so that players can be trained in a modern and scientific way. With the help of latest technologies, talents can be identified scientifically and their skills can be properly developed through technology.

Chief Minister Sai said that the state government is providing all the necessary facilities to the players of Chhattisgarh.

Especially the youth of tribal areas have immense potential. He mentioned that the youth of the special backward tribe Korwa community have natural skill of archery. To promote this talent, Archery Academy is being established in Raipur and Jashpur with the help of NTPC at a cost of Rs 60 crore.

Similarly, more than 1.65 lakh players participated in the Bastar Olympics held in the region. The state government has announced to give Rs 3 crore to the players of Chhattisgarh who win gold medal in Olympics, Rs 2 crore to the silver medal winner and Rs 1 crore to the bronze medal winner as incentive amount.

On this occasion, Sports Minister Tankaram Verma, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Youth Commission Vishwavijay Singh Tomar, Secretary of Sports Department Yashwant Kumar, Director Tanuja Salam, Dr. Digpal Ranawat and other dignitaries were present.
