Now in Rajasthan University, Vice Chancellor will be called Kulguru, BJP leaders had expressed their anger over the word ‘Pati ‘

During the discussion on the bill, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie raised questions on the predominance of external vice-chancellors in the universities of the state. He said that out of 32 universities in Rajasthan, only four have vice-chancellors from the state, while most of the vice-chancellors have been appointed from Uttar Pradesh.

Now the Vice Chancellors of universities in Rajasthan will be called Kulguru. BJP leaders had said that having Pati in the name of Vice Chancellor is wrong and had demanded to replace it with Guru. After that, the government had presented a bill in the Rajasthan Assembly to change the name, which has been passed in the Assembly on Thursday March , 20, 2025.

The ‘University Laws (Amendment) Bill’ was passed in the Rajasthan Assembly. Under this bill, the designation of the Vice Chancellor in 32 government aided universities of the state has been changed to ‘Kulguru’ and the name of the Vice Chancellor has been changed to ‘Pratikulguru’. This change will be applicable only in Hindi language, while in English it will remain as Vice-Chancellor
