In Short

*Plenty of NPK, SSP and Nano DAP to meet the shortage of DAP

*1,79,000 bottles of Nano DAP stored in the state, continuous supply continues

*There is no shortage of alternative fertilizers in Chhattisgarh and one lakh bottles of Nano DAP are being made available at cooperative society outlets by the state Government

In view of the demand for various types of chemical fertilizers for the Kharif season, the Chhattisgarh government is constantly monitoring the supply, storage and distribution of chemical fertilizers.

Raipur: To deal with shortage of alternative fertilizers, State Government has made all the arrangements to fulfill the requirements of all the farmers . All types of chemical fertilizers are available in sufficient quantity in cooperative societies and private sales centers for Kharif season 2025. In view of the reduction in the import of DAP fertilizer due to the global situation, the state government has ensured the supply and distribution of other chemical fertilizers as an alternative.

Keeping in mind that farmers should not face any problem due to shortage of DAP in the state, the state government has stored 179000 bottles of Nano DAP, 25 thousand metric tonnes more than the target of NPK fertilizer and 50 thousand metric tonnes more than the target of SSP as an alternative. Against the target of 60 thousand metric tonnes of potash, more than 77 thousand metric tonnes of Muriate of Potash has been stored so far.

Nano DAP is an alternative to solid DAP and is useful for seed/twig, root treatment and spraying in standing crops after sowing/transplanting. Continuous supply of Nano DAP has been ensured by the government in the state.

Against the target of 3.10 lakh metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer set for the current Kharif season, more than 1 lakh 63 metric tonnes have been stored so far. Supply of DAP is continuing. Currently, 48 thousand metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer will be supplied to the state in the month of July. Storage of fertilizers in the cooperative sector of the state has been done on priority basis.

The availability of DAP fertilizer in the cooperative sector of the state is 62 percent of the total availability of the state.

According to the information received from the Agriculture Department, a total of 13.18 lakh metric tons have been stored so far, which is about 38 thousand metric tons more than the 12.79 lakh metric tons stored during the same period last year.

This year, 25,266 metric tons and 71,363 metric tons more than the targeted quantity of NPK and SSP have been stored, which is being used as an alternative to DAP. 6 lakh metric tons more urea has been stored in the state. The remaining quantity of urea will be supplied in July and the coming month.

It is worth mentioning here that urea is used thrice in paddy. First time at the time of sowing/planting, second time at the time of emergence of ears, three to four weeks after sowing/planting and third time at the time of sowing/planting in the gaabhot stage, 7 to 8 weeks after sowing/planting, thus urea is used till mid-September. 1.63 lakh metric tons of DAP fertilizer has been stored. According to the supply plan for the month of July, the state will get 48 thousand 850 metric tonnes of DAP more.

On the information received from the Agriculture Department, supply of 25 thousand tonnes of NPK is possible in the month of July. Including the additional supply of NPK, 22 thousand metric tonnes of DAP will be reimbursed from the total additional NPK of 50 thousand 266 metric tonnes.

Similarly, 50 thousand metric tonnes of DAP will be reimbursed from the total additional supply of SSP of 1.47 lakh metric tonnes. In this way, the additional supply of NPK and SSP in the state will ensure reimbursement of 72 thousand metric tonnes of DAP.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said that farmers need not worry about the shortage of DAP fertilizer. As an alternative, the Chhattisgarh government has ensured ample arrangements for other chemical fertilizers like Nano DAP, NPK and SSP. As per the suggestion of agricultural scientists of Indira Agricultural University and officials of the Agriculture Department, farmers can get better production by using the said fertilizers instead of DAP.

Adequate stock of fertilizers and seeds has been stored by the societies as per the demand of the farmers
