Raipur: The state government has launched the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana this year for iconic development works in the cities of Chhattisgarh. In the first phase, it has been implemented in all 14 municipal corporations in the state. Under this, major works of development of strong infrastructure in cities are being sanctioned.

After the approval of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development Arun Sao, Rs 429 crore 45 lakh has been sanctioned for 26 works in 13 municipal corporations under the scheme so far.

These include major works like Marine Drive expansion, Oxygen-cum-Sports Complex, Inter-State Bus Terminal, Road Junction, Hi-Tech Bus Stand, Auditorium, Pond Beautification, Garden Development, Water Supply Strengthening, Corridor Construction, Gaurav Path Construction, Road Bypass and Widening.

The budget for the scheme in the current financial year 2025-26 is Rs 500 crore. Work orders have already been issued to the concerned firms for five of the sanctioned works. The groundbreaking ceremony of five works has also been completed.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said about the ambitious Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana of the State Government that this scheme will bring about a major change in the infrastructure development of cities. The plan is designed keeping in mind the sustainable development of cities and citizen-centric solutions. This scheme will prove effective in making the cities of Chhattisgarh modern, beautiful and vibrant. It will play an important role in changing the appearance of cities.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao informed that Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana has been launched as per the action plan included in this year’s budget for creation of vibrant cities and ease of living. In the first phase, all the municipal corporations in the state have been included.

It will be implemented in all municipal bodies in a phased manner. Through the scheme, construction, widening of main roads, bypass roads, fly-overs, service lanes, under-passes and other infrastructure will be developed for easy traffic in view of the increasing population in the cities. River-front developments and grand parks will also be constructed under the scheme to make the cities of the state beautiful, modern, orderly and environmentally friendly. The plan will take up iconic works and projects that can become an example of the development of the city.

These works will be done under the Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme

Main road construction and main road widening works, bypass road construction, service road construction works in main roads, fly-over construction works, under-pass road construction works, water supply scheme works, sewerage network construction works, integrated solid waste management works Construction, grand garden development and river-front development works and development of tourist destinations will be carried out. These will be accompanied by other specific tasks as needed by the city.

A committee chaired by the Collector will monitor

The works of Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana will be monitored and supervised by the district level committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Collector. The Committee will regularly review the works in progress to ensure quality work within the time-bound. The Commissioner of the concerned Municipal Corporation shall be the member-cum-secretary of the Committee.

The Executive Engineer of Public Works Department and Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department will be other members of the committee.

91.27 crore in Raipur, 64.66 crore in Raigarh and 57.92 crore in Bilaspur, 36.55 crore for Gaurav Path in Korba

Four works worth Rs 91.27 crore have been sanctioned in Raipur Municipal Corporation under the Mukhyamantri Nagar Utthan Yojana. These include development of 18 road junctions at a cost of Rs 92 million, strengthening of water supply system at a cost of Rs 233.8 million, Mahadev Ghat Rehabilitation Scheme Phase-I at a cost of Rs 188.6 million and construction of a technical tower at Telibandha at a cost of Rs 40 crore. Three works worth Rs 64.66 crore have been sanctioned in Raigarh Municipal Corporation.

These include extension of Marine Drive from New Shani Temple to Chhathghat at Rs 29 crore 57 lakh, FCI road at Rs 12 crore 81 lakh and Oxygen-cum-Sports Complex development work and upgradation work of New Sarangarh Bus Stand (Inter-State Bus Terminal) worth Rs 22 crore 28 lakh.

In Bilaspur Municipal Corporation, nine works at a total cost of Rs 57.92 crore have been sanctioned under the scheme. These include widening of Ashok Nagar-Birkoni road at Rs 17 crore, construction of Atal Path from Arpa Indra Setu to Ram Setu at Rs 97.4 million, road construction from Mangala Chowk to Azad Chowk at Rs 59 million, asphalting and drainage from Guru Nanak Chowk to Mopka/Rajkishor Nagar Tiraha at Rs 52.22 crore These include beautification of Rakbandha Talab Uslapur, construction of CC road and drainage in Sirgitti area at a cost of Rs 68.2 million and CC road development works under Zone-7 at a cost of Rs 17 million.

An amount of over Rs 64.8 million has been sanctioned for construction of CC roads and drains in Tifra and over Rs 36.2 million for replacement of street lights and electric light poles in the city. Rs 36.55 crore has been sanctioned for construction of Gaurav Path from CSEB Chowk to Jain Chowk and ITI Chowk to Kosabadi Chowk in Korba.

High-tech bus stand and auditorium to be built in Dhamatari, Rs 11.6 crore for Maa Mahamaya corridor in Ambikapur

Under the scheme, a total of Rs 24.64 crore has been sanctioned for two works in Dhamatari Municipal Corporation. These include construction of a new high-tech bus stand worth Rs 177 million and an auditorium worth Rs 69.4 million.

In Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation, a total of Rs 19.95 crore has been sanctioned for two works. These include widening of road from Muktidham to Samudra Chowk, Power House Chowk, Panchpath Chowk to Lalbagh Amaguda Chowk at a cost of Rs 106 million and development and beautification of Dalpat Sagar at a cost of Rs 98.9 million. In Birgaon Municipal Corporation, an amount of over Rs 24.75 crore has been sanctioned for two works.

These include construction of Urla Nala (5.08 km) at a cost of Rs 79 million and road construction from Shani Mandir to Kanhera Mor via filter plant at a cost of Rs 168.5 million.

The Urban Administration Department has sanctioned a total of Rs 14.84 crore for four works in Chirmiri Municipal Corporation under the scheme. These include construction of bypass from Sonamli Naka to Deendayal Chowk Paudhi at Rs 86.5 million, development and beautification of Korea Colliery branch near Shiv Mandir at Rs 35.7 million, road widening from Atal Complex to Malviya Nagar at Podi West Chirmiri at Rs 69 lakh and Ahinsa Chowk to Agrasen Chowk Bada Includes road widening work to market.

A total of Rs 13 crore 99 lakh has been sanctioned for two works in Ambikapur Municipal Corporation. These include development of Pushpavatika Sargaon Park at a cost of Rs 23.9 million and strengthening of water supply system as well as construction of Maa Mahamaya Corridor at a cost of Rs 116 million.

17.33 crore for development and widening of canal road at Bhilai-Charoda and three roads at Risali

In Durg Municipal Corporation, Rs 9.84 crore for construction of four-lane from Dhamdha Road to Raipur Naka under-bridge and Hanuman Nagar to Junwani Road, Rs 29.43 crore for construction of canal road from Dabhra Para to Indranagar in Bhilai-Charoda Municipal Corporation lakh has been sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme.

A total of Rs 17.33 crore has been sanctioned for three works in Risali Municipal Corporation. These include Rs 52.1 million, Rs 79.7 million and Rs 41.5 million for development and widening of roads from Maitri Kunj to Madhurisha Phase-3, Azad Chowk to Krishna Talkies Road and Shriram Chowk to Balaji Apartment (Ward No. 23) respectively
