Mahmood Madani, Salman Khurshid, Imran Masood reached Jantar Mantar… Big protest by Muslim Personal Law Board against Waqf Bill
Owaisi reached Jantar Mantar.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani, Congress leaders Salman Khurshid, Imran Masood and Asaduddin Owaisi have reached Jantar Mantar to join the Muslim Personal Board’s protest against the Waqf Bill.
Heads of different Muslim organizations, MPs and senior leaders of political parties have started arriving at Jantar Mantar to protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill under the banner of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. Meanwhile, bigwigs like Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani, Congress leaders Salman Khurshid, Imran Masood and Asaduddin Owaisi have reached Jantar Mantar.
Reacting to the AIMPLB’s sit-in, Waqf JPC chairman and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said, ‘This protest at Jantar Mantar is politically motivated. This is being done in an organised manner. This is being done due to political confrontation. Opposition people are doing politics of appeasement.’
‘What is being protested against’
He questioned the AIMPLB and said, ‘What is being protested against? We have presented a 428-page report. There is no such scope in it. They have not read the report in any way. It is not right to raise questions in the matter of the collector. He has authority over senior officers.’
‘The bill is for poor Muslims’
He claimed that this bill is for poor Muslims, ‘Pasmanda Muslims. When the sit-in was being held, people from the All India Muslim Law Board were also called in, all state holders were really involved. Despite that, it is not right to protest. Only politics is being done on this issue.’ He alleged that confusion is being created about this law. The people of the country are being misled. The country is run by the state in law. At the time of Article 370, it was said that rivers of blood would flow, but nothing like this happened in Jammu and Kashmir. At the time of triple talaq, there was a protest at Jantar Mantar. Today, work is being done for the betterment of the country and for the betterment of Waqf as well.
If demands are not met, we will protest
Before the protest, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board said, ‘Along with AIMPLB, many other Muslim organizations are participating in this protest. We will give a message from Jantar Mantar that if demands are not met, we will protest.’
AIMPLB said, ‘Representatives from different states who have come to protest say that the land belongs to our forefathers. This is an attack on homes, land and mosques. Our mosques were covered during Holi. This is a black law and we will not let it be implemented. If there is any fraud, the government should investigate it. People of other religions will also be included in this law. The board further said, magistrates will be given more powers. This law is against our rights. Representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, All India Muslim Personal Law Board and opposition parties will join the protest at Jantar Mantar. JPC members have also been invited to join the protest.
