Lucknow thronged to welcome Shubhanshu who returned from the space station, tricolour in every hand, slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai echoed

Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla who returned from the space station has reached Lucknow, where thousands of people welcomed him with tricolour in their hands and slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. However, Shubhanshu will not be able to go home. Sources say that this decision has been taken to ensure the safety of him and his family.

Shubhanshu Shukla along with his wife and son reached Lucknow this morning, where the Deputy Chief Minister of UP and the people of Lucknow welcomed him with a grand welcome at the airport with the tricolor and garlands. During this, the tunes of the band were resonating, which made the atmosphere more enthusiastic. At the same time, according to information received from sources, due to security reasons, Shubhanshu has not been allowed to go to his home, due to which his visit will be limited to the specially organized Victory Parade.

Shubhanshu Shukla will take part in the Victory Parade to be held in Lucknow today. In this parade, he will ride in a special car, while a separate open jeep has been arranged for his family. A police convoy will also be present for the security of the parade and police vehicles will be a part of this grand event. Children who have become astronauts will also participate in this parade.

I am very excited: Shubhanshu

Before taking part in the Victory Parade, Shubhanshu said in a special conversation with Aaj Tak that I am very excited. According to sources, this event is being organized to honor Shubhanshu’s achievements and underline his contribution. However, due to security reasons, the administration has not allowed Shubhanshu to go to his house. Sources say that this decision has been taken to ensure the safety of him and his family.

Can meet CM Yogi

According to the information received, after the felicitation ceremony, Shubhanshu will hold a press conference at 12 noon, where he will meet the media. After this, Shubhanshu can meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhavan.

In fact, Shubhanshu was selected as the Prime Astronaut for the Axiom-4 mission which was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on June 25, 2025 in collaboration with NASA, SpaceX and Axiom Space. In this mission, he was the mission pilot and went to the ISS along with Slavoj Uznanski-Wisniewski (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary) under the leadership of Commander Peggy Whitson.

He conducted seven Indian experiments for 18 days like microalgae experiment, germination of moong and fenugreek, study of microorganisms and effect of microgravity on human muscles.

First Indian to go to ISS

Lucknow-born Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS and he described the mission experience as very encouraging.
