Indo-Pak Conflict: Marco Rubio advised Sharif; Jaishankar said- we will respond to any attempt of terrorism

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that Foreign Minister Marco Rubio spoke to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Indian counterpart S Jaishankar over the phone. Rubio has asked both the leaders to reduce tension immediately. He stressed that the situation between the two countries should not deteriorate further. America has supported direct talks between India and Pakistan.
After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army carried out Operation Sindoor and destroyed nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Since then, tensions have increased between the two countries. On Thursday May 8 , 2025 morning, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Indian counterpart Dr. S Jaishankar regarding this. Rubio stressed the need to reduce tensions immediately. US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce gave information about Rubio’s conversation. During this, Foreign Minister Jaishankar told Rubio that we will strongly respond to any attempt to increase terrorism.
Tammy Bruce said that Foreign Minister Rubio spoke to Sharif and Jaishankar separately on the phone. During this, he appealed to both the leaders to immediately reduce tensions and end the violence. He said that the US supports direct talks between India and Pakistan. Rubio asked both the countries to continue trying to improve mutual dialogue and contact.
Rubio’s effort – to not let the situation between India and Pakistan deteriorate further
Tammy Bruce further said that Foreign Minister Rubio’s effort is to not let the situation between India and Pakistan deteriorate further. This is a serious issue that has been going on for decades. She said that whatever happened after the recent terrorist attack is not surprising, but very disappointing. She said that our effort is to not let the tension increase further. Bruce said that Rubio’s emphasis was that dialogue between the two countries is necessary. Keeping quiet is not the solution. In the last two days, America has talked to the leaders of both the countries and this issue has been at the center of all those talks.
Pakistan wants independent investigation of the terrorist attack: Bruce
US State Department spokesperson Bruce further said that it is being discussed that Pakistan wants an independent investigation of the terrorist attack. We also want that those who committed this crime should be held accountable and America supports any effort in this direction. Bruce said that America appeals to India and Pakistan to resolve this issue peacefully and responsibly. Bruce said, ‘We also want to say that the most important thing at this time is that a phone call has taken place and we are talking at many levels with both the governments. We will not discuss what was discussed or what message we gave.’
Will strongly respond to efforts to increase terrorism: Jaishankar
Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar gave information about the talks with American counterpart Rubio. He appreciated the US commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism. Also gave information about India’s targeted and balanced action against cross-border terrorism. During this, Jaishankar told Rubio that India will strongly respond to any attempt to increase terrorism.
