Bihar cleric Abdullah Salim’s controversial remarks against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s mother have sparked anger across Uttar Pradesh. Protests are taking place on the streets from Varanasi to Lucknow, while dozens of police stations across the state, including Balrampur, have begun tightening their legal screws.

Bihar-based Maulana Abdullah Salim allegedly made derogatory and offensive remarks about the mother of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On Saturday, based on a complaint from the Balrampur BJP district president, the police filed a case against the Maulana. Cases were also filed against him in 83 police stations across the state. Separate complaints have been filed against him in 83 police stations across the state. In Varanasi, Hindu Yuva Vahini activists burned an effigy of the Maulana and announced a reward of 2.1 million rupees for beheading him. Youths also burned an effigy at Atal Chowk in Lucknow, demanding his immediate arrest.

Hindu Yuva Vahini’s anger erupted in Varanasi

This comment sparked widespread outrage in Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s constituency. Hindu Yuva Vahini activists gathered at their office at Gorakhnath Math and marched to Maidagin Square.

Protesters beat an effigy bearing the Maulana’s image with slippers and sticks, then set it on fire. During this, activists announced that anyone who brings Maulana Abdullah Salim’s severed head would be rewarded with 21 lakh rupees.

Warning of Protest in Lucknow

Protests also erupted at Atal Chowk in the capital, Lucknow. Led by Anurag Tiwari, youth demonstrated, stating that derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister’s mother would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The protesters warned that if strict action and arrest of the Maulana were not taken within the next four days, a large-scale protest would be launched across Lucknow. Organizations have demanded the central and state governments to immediately send him to jail.

Maulana Salim in Legal Tangle

Legal action against the Maulana has intensified. In addition to the FIR lodged in Balrampur, students, social activists, and BJP officials across the state have united and filed complaints in 83 police stations. People say that this Maulana, who writes as Chaturvedi, has no right to make such comments. The police administration is now putting pressure for the arrest of Maulana on the basis of complaints received from various districts.
