New Applications for LPG Connections Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Will Now Be Accepted

Raipur: After providing domestic LPG connections to over 10.33 crore economically weaker women under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Government of India, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has once again given a gift to the people before Diwali by initiating the process of providing 2.5 million new Ujjwala gas connections under the PMUY.

A target of providing 223,000 new domestic LPG connections has been set in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing new connections under this scheme. As per Chief Minister Sai’s instructions, detailed guidelines for new Ujjwala gas connections have been issued by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department of the Chhattisgarh Government.

New connections will be issued to beneficiaries within 15 days.

As per the detailed guidelines issued by the department, a District Ujjwala Committee will be formed in all districts under the chairmanship of the District Collector. This committee will regularly monitor the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in the district and ensure timely processing of received applications.

Applications for new gas connections will be received from eligible families under the scheme within the next seven days. The district’s gas agencies will process the received applications for verification and issue new gas connections within 15 days.

Beneficiaries will be given priority under the Niyyad Nella Naar Yojana.

In the districts of Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Kanker, and Dantewada, beneficiaries will be identified first, giving special priority to these villages. Ujjwala gas scheme connections will be provided to 100% of the identified beneficiaries. To ensure eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of the scheme, special camps will be organised in selected areas with easy network connectivity in coordination with oil companies. Special camps will be organised in identified villages to process the remaining 34,425 families applying for gas connections under the scheme.

For applications received from remote and inaccessible areas, areas with connectivity will be selected for e-KYC verification and these will be benefited through special camps.

The Collector will be the Chairperson of the District-Level Ujjwala Committee.

The District Ujjwala Committee will verify and vet at least 5% of the applications received under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. To this end, all gas agencies in the district have been directed to convene and provide information for issuing new gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The District Ujjwala Committee will be chaired by the District Collector or a senior officer authorised by her/ him.

The District Nodal Officer, who will be from an oil marketing company, will serve as the coordinating member. Two other members will be officials from the other two oil marketing companies. The District Food and Civil Supplies Officer and two non-official members will also be members of the committee.

Criteria for new connections under the scheme have been established.

Criteria for eligibility for new gas connections under the PMUY have been established.

These criteria include households earning more than ₹10,000 per month, government employees, and families with non-agricultural enterprises registered with the government.

Similarly, farmers having credit limit of more than Rs 50,000 in Kisan Credit Card, owners of more than 2.5 acres of irrigated land with irrigation equipment, owners of 5 acres or more of irrigated land for two or more crop seasons, owners of at least 7.5 acres or more of land having at least one irrigation equipment, owners of houses with carpet area of ​​more than 30 square meters, owners of their own motorised three or four wheeler or fishing boat or mechanised three or four wheeler agricultural equipment and families having existing LPG connections will be ineligible to avail the benefits under the scheme.
